I'd say go for it if it was my neck. In 1986, my legs stopped working because of a sequestrated disc between the L4 and L5 vertebrae. My surgeon said I had about a 90% chance of a fix, 10% chance of no improvement and a 1 in 1,000 chance that he'd have a bad day and his knife would slip.... I said "That sounds like good odds to me, go for it." I'm so pleased I did. I'd say that I have been about 98% ever since. Mind you, I'm careful what I lift and how I lift it! As for bending and twisting at the same time, let me quote my surgeon verbatim: "As long as you live, never bend and twist at the same time. You may bend and you may twist but never the twain shall meet. That will f*kc up a good back, never mind yours." Good luck, whatever you decide.
