@elcobb - not recommendations as such but I hold the Jupiter gold & silver fund, originally mentioned by Sageman. I also have the ishares physical silver ETF (SSLN). The former fund gives you broad exposure to a number of silver miners. Both funds are on a tear at the moment.

Implementing a share buy back programme to narrow the massive discount to NAV would be appreciated more by me. Other ITs have had success with this strategy.

I'm afraid you've misunderstood the point entirely that I was making, Walp.

Each to their own, but a "sit on hands" (forever, when do you actually sell?) investment strategy is not very sensible imho; you may be faced with a future situation when you're forced into selling - because you need access to the capital - at a time of a bear/market downturn.

Anyway, enough from me now as I'm not one for posting on BB in which I no longer have a vested interest.

Walp, the decision to “stick or twist/sell” is vastly more nuanced than your post suggests. As LLOL correctly states, investors can have a multitude of reasons to sell.

For example, I myself sold the final tranche of my SMT holding about 10 days ago, having held for nearly 10 years; ironically and fortuitously just before the Deepseek issue.

I hadn’t lost confidence in SMT, just that I’m happy with my substantial profits and now need less volatility at this stage of my investment journey.

I don’t want a black swan event occurring when I want to drawdown from my SIPP, if I can avoid it. It’s all about risk management, depending upon the stage of your life and appetite to risk etc.

But for the above I would have remained invested, still consider SMT a great investment and sincerely hope it goes from strength to strength for you guys.

No need to convince me of GGP’s fundamentals, I too have been invested there since the days when it was 0.2 region :)

Yep, you wouldn’t see me for dust. I’m not repeating my previous mistake, failing to sell around the previous ATH.

I’m not suggesting that the SP can’t go beyond 40p in due course, but sadly the events/deal outcome of the last week no longer align with my timescales (and financial plans).

I say this as someone who has patiently held - and averaged up - since Jan 2017…
