There’s no confirmation from NH2, they have actually applied for planning yet.

I didn't say the FTU was commercial, the exact opposite, however a number of your overtly pro PHE friends have started to suggest that this might be possible and the company is out of development and now commercial - I think Swazers was one who said this.

The simple fact is, PHE have a toy sized DMG and little reality of getting to a commercial unit without someone who has at least £30m to throw at it.

Had they won some funding or a partner had, it would be have been enough money to develop a SAF based site with maybe a 10tn unit. One of many, many examples below:

Abundia Biomass-to-Liquids (Jet – AB2L) - Based in Teesside, the project is developing a demonstration plant that uses pyrolysis and hydrotreatment technology to convert sawmill and forestry residues into SAF. The plant is expected to be operational in 2026 and produce 2.6 kt/y of SAF when at full operational capacity.

Imagine what getting one of these grants would have done for the SP, it would have funded PHE's SAF development for at least 18 months!!

The system is capable of processing a range of mixed plastics, but not at the same time.

Certainly not in the system they have in Bridgend.

The plastic feed must be consistent, which is why they used exclusively a pre shredded tyre crumb. Probably one of the reasons there has been zero test data since they turned the thing on in January. It doesn't work with mixed plastics due to different heating / melting points and inexpertly, all plastic going in has to be of a uniform size, so more processing time.

For what it's worth, PHE don't have a commercial product, and are still a very long way from having one, which is 40tn.

PE stated at no point will the 2.5tn be sold as a commercial product - his words!

The enquires regarding the 2.5tn FTU's are for development work, not commercial projects. The numbers do not work on paying the cap ex, ongoing running and maintenance for 2.5tn a day.

So PHE are still in early development and have no commercial product.

They do not even have a finished FTU operating either, because they couldn't afford to buy the off-take kit to separate and store the syngas, so it is just flared!! Wasteful and not very environmentally friendly.

Quite embarrassing when a customer looks around and they ask where and how you off and store the syngas!! Oh we just didn't buy that part, but we can get you one.

The plastic has to be sorted and then shredded in to similar sized pieces before being added to the feed. That, is expensive to pre-process. But you know that right?

No, you haven’t answered why so many companies have been awarded free money to develop SAF and PHE and their partners are not on the list.

Some companies have received £25m to use black bag rubbish, unfiltered landfill waste.

PHE have to sort all of their feedstock in to plastic types, then have it shredded and delivered to site.

Sounds time consuming and expensive for a free waste product.
