The point is for £120m they can theoretically match Chinook, but it’s totally unproven. Chances are, they can’t do that, where is the evidence?

This has always been the problem with PHE, they say things that simply materialise or work in practice.

They might as well say they can produce 36 tonnes of H2 a day, as it’s based on one comment. No test results, no plans and no evidence.

Each - don't believe everything you're told!! The main purpose of the DMG is to deal with non-recyclable waste.

Hydrogen is a bit of a smoke screen, it's a by product from the process. Gate fees are what will keep these sites running, and the income depends on how pre-sorted the waste is needs to be. We know that PHE requires a lot of sorting, whereas Chinook have confirmed very little is required, so they will get a far higher rate per tonne.

However, even using the same cost per tonne for this example, it's terrible reading from a potential customers POV.

At £120 per tonne x 300,000 tonnes, Chinook will bring in revenue of £36m

At £120 per tonne x 18,000 tonnes, PHE's customer will bring in £2.16m

Not really comparable is it? Even if you times it by 4 it's still only £8.64m - still 4.5 times less than Chinook.

Obviously, PHE don't receive the gate receipts or own the H2 anyway!

Chinook are probably 3 years further down the line than PHE, plus they have £200 of funding.

Just so you're comparing like with like when you say PHE can do it for £80m less. It's actually £600m more than Chinook!!

Chinook Hydrogen's Tilbury plant:

Recycles 300,000 tonnes of 'non-recyclable waste' annually or 822 tonnes per day

Produces 12 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen per day

Cost £200m

PHE - Anticipates (TBC):

Recycles 18,000 tonnes of non recyclable plastic (other waste?) annually or 50 tonnes per day

Potential to produce 2 tonnes of hydrogen per day (this is TBC as no test results are available)

Cost £50

The Chinook plant is 4 times the cost, but recycles over 16 times as much waste. So, based based on a PHE plants cost, it would require over 16 plants at £50m each to match it = £800m.

Monty, I suspect things will settle down over the next 1 to 2 months and then a move upwards based on sentiment, cash in bank, and news.

Must to some poster dislike, there is an awful lot going on behind the scenes and regular visits from interested parties.

The new management are far more restrained in what they announce, but if you look at the calibre and guest list of who has been to AFC HQ since March, it's quite impressive.

This suggests, unlike previously, they're getting in front of the right potential customers, associations, MP's, governing bodies, potential partners and so on.

What's the latest price from PHE on building a 40tn plant?
