09.58: Learningtoinvest - all good points. Icewine 2 followed on from Icewine 1 and, due to proximity of sites, we might assume new well is to benefit from 'profile' of old well. (We could have drilled in another zone to derisk a further area but choice was made). A vertical well design was chosen (much debated on this bb at the time). As we know, in unconventional plays a horizontal system is used (PB out of everyone knew that), so a vertical well signified certain confidences. There was the confidence from Icewine 1 data (in Bex) to go for a vertical design which could determine horizontal landing sites in the HRZ to maximise future oil extraction. However, it is not a design which will make it easy to establish a realistic 'flow rate' (whatever that is) in a multi-zoned environment. Speaking to PB he sounded sure of flow from data from Icewine 1 (Bex) and had planned way ahead so it was not the prime purpose behind Icewine 2 imo. As ever, in the field, other parameters have arisen and we can look forward to the pros and cons of those. VGLA

8.58 - possibly fair comment. I would just observe that, when one has many spent years here, the single most striking feature of this bb is the remarkable inability to predict future SPs. Sure, most is due to traders' perceived requirements, but LTH have had many goes and failed. I can only recal one bullseye predicted by Jiddy relating to the ASX. So, your contribution was, and is, interesting but imo nothing more. VGLA

Saw a 'light documentary' last night saying Alaska was 81,000 times bigger than Wales. Could not believe that so checked and I think it's only 82.5 times bigger(?!) ['Minime' will doudtless quibble] However, certainly bigger than Texas, California and Montana combined (which are the three biggest American states after Alaska). Twice the size of Texas (and twice the size of Sweden). Since Alaska is the 'oiliest' state - gives a sense of scale.

I see the rise in PoO has reached the TV morning news platforms. A good sign of rising awareness and possible likely ongoing situation. VGLA
