Major European stock indexes traded higher in the premarket session on Tuesday with investors in a more positive mood compared to the previous day when global markets experienced a massive global sell-off. Market participants digest the latest labor data from Switzerland that showed an increase in the unemployment rate in July, and German factory orders which accelerated in June.

At 8:00 am CET, the FTSE 100 gained 1.33%. The Euro Stoxx 50 increased by 0.75%. The DAX jumped 0.54%. The CAC 40 advanced by 1.20%.

The euro traded 0.06% higher against the dollar at 7:59 am CET to sell for $1.09456. Simultaneously, the pound sterling traded flat against the United States currency to change hands for $1.27706.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) discovered a large smuggling tunnel on the Gaza-Egypt border, measuring approximately 3 meters tall which is big enough for vehicles to pass through.

The tunnel was found last week along the Philadelphi Route during an operation aimed at uncovering Hamas's smuggling weapon routes in the area.

The IDF also released photos of the tunnel, highlighting its significant size.

The price of precious metals grew on Wednesday after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell hinted that a rate cut could be "on the table" at the September meeting, contingent on favorable economic conditions. The statement appeared to raise the price of non-yielding assets, such as gold and silver.

During the press conference following the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision announcement, Chair Jerome Powell stated that while the central bank is moving "closer" to a point where monetary easing could be possible, it has not yet approached it.

Gold added 0.99% to sell at $2,434.81 per ounce at 2:50 pm ET. Silver rose 1.61% to trade at $28.85 per ounce. Palladium surged 4.40% to $917.34 per ounce and platinum gained 1.73% to $978.72 per ounce.
