Major stock market indexes in Europe traded higher in the premarket on Monday as the investors shrugged off some of the worries caused by a surge in coronavirus case count in some countries on the continent on optimistic news coming from the medical institutions developing either prophylactic or therapeutic means of suppressing COVID-19.

The DAX rose 0.50% at 7:30 am CET, while the FTSE 100 gained 0.48%.

The euro and the pound stood flat versus the dollar at 7:29 am CET, selling for $1.17944 and $1.30912 respectively.

Pain is neither intolerable nor everlasting if you bear in mind that it has its limits, and if you add nothing to it with your imagination.

I think it has more to do with the Sunday Times lobbing grenades at Boohoo than anything Priti Patel has said.

The article admits the headline is not what Patel actually said when it quotes her exact words:

No doubt the article may unsettle the horses but it will be well in the wake when BOhio delivers at the end of September.

Home secretary criticises fashion giant’s response to Sunday Times scoop and says it must protect its vulnerable workers
The home secretary, Priti Patel, has told the fast fashion giant Boohoo to “step up and take responsibility” for its suppliers, which have been accused of exploiting workers paid as little as £3.50 an hour.
In a letter to Boohoo chief executive John Lyttle, Patel criticised the company’s response to an investigation by The Sunday Times, which found workers being treated like modern-day slaves.

Last month an undercover reporter spent two days packing boxes at a garment factory in Leicester, where he was told to expect a wage of £3.50 an hour, despite the minimum wage for those aged 25 and over being £8.72.

Precious metals rebounded on Thursday after dropping sharply a day earlier.

Investors turned to safe-haven assets as worries about the pace of the economic recovery reemerged after the US Federal Reserve warned that the impact of the coronavirus on the economy remains strong and that the road to recovery is highly uncertain, stressing more fiscal stimulus will be needed.

Spot gold jumped 1.06% to sell for $1,949.44 per ounce at 2:28 am ET and silver rallied 1.83% to go for $27.19 per ounce at the same time. Platinum gained 0.69% to change hands for $937.98 per ounce at 2:29 am ET and palladium climbed 0.77% to sell for $2,176 per ounce at the same time.
