Shares in Europe traded mostly above the flatline in the premarket on Monday, as the traders monitored the developments on the COVID-19 front. While French, Russian, and British officials came out with somewhat optimistic forecasts regarding the course of the pandemic, Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel signaled that she could reach for the federal law in order to impose tighter COVID containment measures in the country.
The DAX advanced by 0.12% at 8:02 am CET, while the CAC 40 gained 0.16% at the same time. Meanwhile, in London, the FTSE 100 stood flat. The euro declined 0.17% versus the dollar, selling for 1.17740 at 8:04 am CET, while the pound decreased 0.19% compared to the greenback to go for 1.37658 at the same time.
