Firstly MrH also Vet 10
A few years back I almost invest a small inheritance in Echo (small but big enough). This was due to following a person's career that was close to Echo. I was advised very strongly not too as not all was as it seemed. I didn't invest then but took a greater interest in Echo and it's activities. I've had about 3 career paths throughout my working life all in engineering one being within oil and gas (over a couple of paths, hands on management and Owner). So my interest in Echo was primarily the person then the Oil and Gas aspect. One of my other paths was as a business consultant firefighting problem companies or company locations.
My interest in Echo continued because of what I had learnt but also the fact that (in my view a Lifestyle Company) had almost made off with a sum of money left to me not because of bad company choices but to line pockets.
I did buy a tiny amount of shares in Echo to appease the drum bangers for not being a share holder. This made no odds so I sold a month later (or less) for a couple of pound profit eaten of course by the fees.
So the reason I Pop in here is to stop others being suckered in and to provide a (in my view) a honest take on things. But bare in mind I suspect the NTVO is no different than Echo.
They are run always needing funds, never to make a profit and always coming up with entering into other agreements that mean diddly.
From my consultant days it was so easy to find was that companies bought services or surveys that never really happened. But large fees were paid. An easy way to get money out of a company buy producing a couple of bits of paper. or Like one companies regional site I looked at spent 50k on tyres when they were part of the lease deal for their vehicles.
So I do invest and have a couple of good size pensions that I have deferred due to current incomes. But I invest in technologies that are still fairly new or up and coming. We laughed when Echo dipped it's toe into Solar as I was doing the same. Echo I think made a placement then binned the idea but keeped the cash raised. I carried on with mine on a small scale which is done well.
