I would be more than happy to pay 50p - £1 for a simple card and even £1.50 - £2 if it had extra decoration on it.

I work in manufacturing. Delivery costs, production costs, shop rental, wages, My point is that for 15p per card (10 for a pound) you have to sell a hell of a lot of cards. Getting 100 people through the door still only makes £100 quid in a small town centre shop. Out of 100 customers less than 5% might want a a balloon or wrapping paper as extra. We bought a thank you teacher card for 15p. Its prime time of the year to maximise profit depending on the card type.

Not impressed with the offers on cards currently in store. 15p per card or 10 for £1. That to me smacks of desperation. Especially with raw material costs. Shop was busy but still have to sell a hell of a lot of cards to pay the staff costs

Apart from supermarkets (asda mainly) i really can't see any real competition any more against Card factory. I was in the Clintons outlet store in manchester lowry at the weekend (no other choice). It's closing down and everything was 20% off. It was still £6 for 2 fathers days cards! The only problem i have seen will be raw material prices. A4 Paper prices have been ridiculous (im the stationery buyer at work) but prices are finally starting to drop. Hopefully this will help over next 12 months. i would love to see a partnership with B&M or even a take over of another business like The Works.
