If you hold the shares until ex dividend date then you will get the dividend. It's strange to see that this company is paying almost 38% of the share price in dividend. Sounds too good to be true, but fortunately it is true. However, the share will naturally decline by he same amount the day after the ex dividend date.

Does anyone know the reason behind the rally today apart from the closure of all shorts? It's unusual for this to rise by a high percentage, which makes me think that someone knows something is coming up very soon?

Is the ex divi for special dividend of 1.50 today (7th Jan 2016)?

I would say that this is a recovery buy and hold on a long term basis. Even if there was a dividend cut, the yields are still tempting for income with potential for capital growth. New CEO means new blood and new energy in the BoD. I wish some of them bought the share to show confidence while the share is down.

I don't think it'll go to 50p but I'll wait for this to drop further to top up. There's no rush as this company is still paying dividend for the time being.

LessD, this is probably not the best share to day trade as you'll have to pay stamp duty of 0.5% and also the trade fee every time you buy the shares. Try day trading with shares that doesn't charge stamp duty. I didn't think this share could go any lower, but I was wrong. I'm still holding as time is on my side because they are still paying juicy dividends for the time being.

Surprised to see a sudden drop of 6%

What is the reason behind this fall. I've skim read the Financials and the figures looks good, or am I missing something?

It's good to see RWC fund managers buying 3 million more shares, which gives me more confidence than what is conveyed on brokers ratings. Talk is cheap, but when someone puts money where their mouth is, then that really matters.

I wish I had some spare cash to double up at these rock bottom prices. I'm surprised that the SP took at the current sell off as utilities are one of the defensive stocks in market turmoil.

I don't know why the spread (difference between buying and selling price) of this SP is very high. It is currently 2.04%. Seems like the MM are ripping people off.

This is an opportunity to average down for early investors. So what, if the price is down, it's only on paper, the worst thing to do is to sell and crystalise your losses. If you can sit tight and are willing to wait then just collect the juicy dividends and wait for the price to climb or hope for a takeover bid from Electrocomponents plc. GLA and DYOR

I believe this share was tipped by Questor back in May when the price was 879 and they highly rated its inflation protected dividend income. Now that the share is at its 52 week low with an impending ex dividend on 6th Aug at 21.84 per share, that's a 2.7% immediate cash for holding the share for a week with a potential upside from the 52 week low. Sounds very tasty, but DYOR.

This has got to be the most resilient share for the last year that I've come across since becoming a PI. It had cancelled share buyback, and the SP didn't move. The dividend was cancelled and the SP didn't move. They downgraded profit and still no movement and in the SP, and now they came with a further profit warning and the SP still doesn't budge. Absolutely remarkable.

I second Pokerchips' comments and would say that the same applies in Switzerland too.
