RE: "Prospect attributes lithium success to Mnangagwas."-Zimbabwe News, 28.2.223 Mar 2022 06:58
Hi folks
I have just read an article in the New York Times dated 2 march 2022 entitled:-
"BEFORE INVASION. UKRAINES'S LITHIUM WEALTH WAS DRAWING GLOBAL ATTENTION"
The following are excerpts from this article:-
"Last year Ukraine started to auction off exploration permits to develop it's lithium reserves......."
"In November, European Lithium, an Australian firm, said it was in the process of securing rights to two promising lithium deposits in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine, and Kirovograd in the centre of the country"
"Deep Below the ground in Ukraine, where Russia continues to mount an aggressive attack, lies vast, untapped mineral wealth that could hold the keys to a lucrative, clean-energy for the Eastern European nation"
"But the Russian invasion has come just as Ukraine, under Volodymyr Zelensky was trying to position itself as a major player in the clean energy transition"
"Ukrainian researchers have speculated that the country's eastern region holds close to 500,000 tonnes of lithium oxide....
That preliminary assessment, if it holds, would make Ukraine's lithium reserves one of the largest in the world"
The same month, the Chinese company chengxin Lithium also applied for rights to lithium deposits in Donetsk and kirovograd....."
End of excerpts.
It may be that the list of suitors talking to GR may increase over the next few weeks and that the investment money assigned to Ukraine may be chasing after Zulu and the EPO pushing the value beyond anything we can imagine. I think we could forgive GR for the lack of communication if what I've said is true!
NB the terrible suffering of the Ukraine people is there for us all to see and we can only hope that this conflict is brought to a swift end for the sake of Ukraine, Europe and the rest of the world.
best wishes
Michael
