Does the review, if it goes ahead, serve a positive purpose for BPC when it comes to public opinion of future exploitation drilling?
Why?
If through the review the government prove the robustness of the EIA and the operating conditions that BPC will be held to be as stringent as possible, over and above those already drilling with GOM operate within. Does that offer sufficient assurance to the bahamian public who were 50/50 on the drill.
Those who acknowledge the need for the financial benefit that it can bring but are rightly protective of their beautiful islands.

Hold/buy/sell it is your decision. Make sure you are comfortable with it and take ownership of your decision.
There will be those who tell you everything is going to be brilliant. There will be those who tell you the drill will never happen now. They can't both be right.
There will be sound arguments on both sides. But the outcome is not yet known by anyone on this BB no matter what they might try to have you believe.

I disagree. Whilst I cannot say for others I can say for myself I have not been dishonest. I only offer the truth or make it clear when I offer an opinion.
I believe there are many more out there doing the same.
There are probably also a number of dishonest posters.

If the JR were to find against the award of exploitation license to BPC, would that open the door to a claim against the government for costs incurred on good faith?
Would it also further preclude the future award of exploration license options for other oil companies?

If BPC lose the exploration license but retain the exploitation license the fields are worthless for 30 years.

Ok, poetry aside (John Cooper Clarke has nothing to fear from me) I agree with much of the eco agenda. I understand the hydrocarbon issue. I hope we find a reasonable ecological alternative in my lifetime.
I get the argument that enough of the world resources have been wastefully consumed in the past 200 years.
But, to the eco warriors out there it is far easier to preach from a position of privilege than poverty.
Your message may be correct. You have clearly had a great education and are wise to the bigger picture.
Would you be so aware if you had been raised in poverty?
Rather than using the Greenpeace funding to indulge your lifestyle (I wouldn't object to a few months floating around at sea in the Canaries or the Caribbean not thinking about the mortgage payments or how my tax money is funding the NHS or foreign aid payments) be a more active member of the solution rather than campaigning against the problem.
Use your talent your education your passion, go into a research field, contribute financially to society. Drive the agenda by giving us viable sustainable alternatives.

Oh, and a large part of the problem is not the use of fossil fuel. It is the number of people using the fossil fuel.

At some point in our evolution we went past the sustainable population level. Nature has a way of returning an equilibrium. As a species there is no guarantee we are part of that future balanced picture.

Oil drilling in the Bahamas during a climate crisis is madness.
True.
But oil drilling 100 years after the crisis has passed and technology is such that oil is irrelevant makes sense?
400k people living in poverty when they have a route out makes sense?
I agree, the world is rich enough for alternative routes out of poverty to exist, that has worked well so far hasn't it?
The Bahamas is under as much ecological threat from oil already being extracted on its borders or passing through.
The argument to stop using oil is a very good one. But show me a viable alternative that works today. The only options I see precluded mass transit of people and goods. This leads to nationalism and that increases the risk of conflict on a global scale.

Sound advice offered freely.
Many moons ago I was told not to worry about things beyond your control. Be aware that they can and do happen. Prepare for the possibility that they might happen by deciding ahead of time how you want to react if they do happen.
That is your plan.
Execute the plan if something happens.
Until then don't let it trouble you, you have a plan in place.

If the prospect here scares you even if you have an emergency exit plan then consider getting out before anything happens and accept that you may miss out on the upside. It is better to sleep worry free and a little poorer than consumed by fear of something going wrong.

Whilst I do not fully agree that the development outlined in the RNS is entirely dependent upon the PERV#1 outcome, a positive result there gives a very different financing option set to a negative outcome.

For anyone who has not yet read the RNS, make a brew first, it is a good old read.

Whilst we still have the legal uncertainty - I know people have presented reasonable arguments against the validity of the challenge - for some the noise around a missing CPR - for others the lack of IceMax bog cam - previous BPC board behaviour in terms of using news to dilute - plus the really big one - what is in the ground and can we prove it with PERV#1.
Markets hate uncertainty and we have our share of it.
The good news the uncertainty should be short lived.

Are we drilling on schedule should be answered in a little over 2 weeks.
If not is the reason the legal challenge having legs or a financial concern, or an operational delay.

Have we hit the motherload should be clear in spud +45 - spud +60. I doubt they will be able to keep information under wraps for long.
Or did we find nothing more than dusty bin and an old copy of razzle?

Then we get to see the future business strategy. Knowing if we are booking our next break in Fiji or Formby.

Far too many would be Alpha males trying to swing their appendages. The harsh reality is some of them are lucky not to get urine on their shoes most days.
The real gems are those that don't wait till the flow has finished before they give it a shake and put it away.

These boards are poison. When people are telling you to hold and buy, they are getting out with their profit. You then see them on another board doing the same.

Looks like you have possibly had fingers burnt.
I know it will come a little late for you, for that I am sorry, for newbies it is a valuable lesson.
We all know we should do our own research, part of that can be reading up on BBs.
Remember the poster is a nameless faceless person that you do not know. You can however check their posting history. Some do bounce from BB to BB chasing price volatility and posting to fit their needs.
Others are genuine, they may post positive or negative comments. They are mostly consistent in those views.
Some, openly admit they are playing a game of 'smoke and mirrors ' and change style as they play the game.

Learn to distinguish between the trader, the well intentioned poster, the wind up merchant and the well informed or researched poster before trusting anyone.

Best of luck, I hope you can recover your losses either here or elsewhere.

BPC go ahead as planned and use the existing contingency fund to cover the added covid costs and sail close to the wind. If anything pops up during the drill that requires more cash where would we turn?

Or, BPC pull the plug on the PERV#1 drill?

Or, they play the hand as they have and leave options open?

Not interested in how they could have done things differently 6 months ago 2 years ago or when granny was a little girl. Just how you would have played the hand as it was sat at the table right now.

It is not for me to suggest others relax sit back or enjoy the ride where BPC is concerned.

I have no knowledge of other people's financial positions.
Personally I am comfortable with what I have invested in BPC, I can sit back, relax, enjoy the ride.
I am holding past the spud and all the way to results.
I will then take a view on what I do next.

It has always been thus for me.
But then, I know my risk appetite, financial exposure and am a veteran of 10+ years in BPC.
