You are better off buying quality US growth every time over this capital destructive U.K. dividend rubbish. Post brexit Lloyds couldn’t break .70p it now can’t break .50p, and a 4 pc yield compensates for that? U.K. banks as an investments were done ten years ago, both U.K. and Europe have weak growth and the economies are looking at rolling into recession shortly, it’s doubtful even with parabolic inflation they can raise rates much, perfect storm for banks. Buy some Amazon and double your money every six years instead. U.K. index is awful, Vod, bt, shagged out airlines, terrible financials, house builders, cardboard box manufacturers and fag companies. Total dross.

From 7 quid in 2007 to 1.65 today. What a dire investment U.K. bank shares are, uninvestable capital destructive rubbish and rates are never going up much so they are doomed. Brexit fiasco/covid/putin ….this is heading for about .90p. Buy US mega caps and double your money every 6 years, U.K. is utterly fxcked, the action against Russia by U.K. will do more harm at home through fuel/supply costs than harm to Putin, Boris trying to save his career. This is now a buy, I have traded this over the years and anything sub 20 has always been a buy, its a very rangebound share. Tbh all the stuff on the UK indexes has been decimated, most of it back to covid levels. 18 month time horizon for this to get to about 3800/4200. At least its still a growth share, the rest of the U.K. indexes filled with debt ridden crxp like Vod/Bt etc.

All the cash from the Costa sale up in smoke as buybacks were executed at the highest share price and then having to issue more shares during covid, in effect the entire asset of costa gone for nothing, just terrible, would have been better to return the Costa money to shareholders via a special, buybacks in general hopeless and in this case a disaster. Whitbread has really poor management, too much debt and too many hotels, will never do any good, so pleased I exited, shares have gone nowhere. No dividend and no capital growth, another pointless ftse 100 dross share.
