Aviva explores using shareholder’s money to fund infrastructure projects, a good read but a bad idea?
As the special dividend is being paid out of funds coming from the sale, in theory, it shouldn't drop
$ going down should mean BATS profit goes up we they trade in the £
Maybe they are shorting it as a hedge and that is making more money than the long at the moment, these insti's and investment houses just work to their own agenda what ever the company says.
L&G ‘sitting on £10bn of bond losses’ - HTTPS://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/business/l-amp-g-sitting-on-10bn-of-bond-losses-s0gz9pxdf
Legal & General is sitting on estimated bond market losses of as much as £10 billion, according to a shareholder group which is urging the insurer to postpone its planned dividend.
The UK Shareholders Association argues that the outlook for financial markets is much too uncertain to justify L&G making its £754 million payout promised for next month.
Dean Buckner, its policy director and a former Prudential Regulation Authority official, said L&G would be sitting on huge paper losses because of the slide in many bond prices since the start of the year...
... Over the weekend L&G put pressure on the UKSA to retract its estimate but it declined to do so.
An L&G spokesman said: “We simply do not recognise these numbers. Our decision to pay our recommended dividend is considered, prudent and affordable. It is the right thing to do for our thousands of personal shareholders, for the pension system and the economy.”
Oygen,
Don’t think Shareholders will be too impressed if they see their ‘stolen dividend’ being handed across to customers where there is no contractual liability to do so. Best would be to apply discount on renewals given lower historic claims record. See the French are seeking insurers to provide retrospective C-19 cover...without a charge, what a marvellous precedent that would set !!
You are right, the worlds gone mad.
