Yes MaryBr190 , I love this company, rank has traded between 60p-1.00 for the last two years, and luckily for me I have surfed the Rank wave better than I have with any other share, it makes up 25% of my portfolio, and I have an average of 66.5p, I have sold(trimmed)15-20%, but I am in no hurry to sell any more this time around as it feels different on this wave, and I am loving it, a good company, with growth in all departments, and the potential of an income explosion due to the proposed new machine legislation, under the radar and a little unloved for reasons mentioned by other fantastic posters on this forum(ownership, and large false spread), I love RANK.
I have 25 shares in my ISA, two months ago 20 of the 25 were losers, today only 1 of my 25 is a loser which is Mobico(I have an average of 81.5p), I am tempted to sell as it has had a good run recently, but FOMO prevents me from selling, and as I have seen with my other shares things can change very quickly, Synthomer being a classic example of this, if they manage to sell the North American school bus operation things could change very quickly.
Mary, the actual spread is less than .025p, though there was a 2p spread about 20 minutes ago, even though quoted spread was as you said 7p, not sure why but historically always the same but usually narrows at some point during trading day(A trades pay the spread price), out of interest are you adding or trimming, or neither Mary.
The trade yesterday(whether a buy or a sell)was for 5% of Rank shares, today we have Guoline increasing by 3%, where did the other 2%(give or take)go, more to come I think.
After such a big trade you would expect a holdings announcement, the last time there was a big trade(February 1st)Lombard Odious took 5%.
Correction to my post, placing happened at 0.90p(5th November 2020)but was conducted swiftly(24 hours), you had to be on the ball to be involved(which I was not), month after placing share price was £1.60.
Whatever happens here short term with the share price I do not know, but certainly I believe in the long term the current share price will seen as being cheap, Rank raised in 2020, in the middle of the pandemic at £1.10, and it was hugely oversubscribed, without involving shareholders at the time. The business is showing growth in all departments, this will either be taken out or will rise organically, I believe anything under £1 is value with this share, £1.50 is my target price.
I agree Mary, also noticed you getting a bit of flack over at PFC, the problem with many people on these forums is they put eggs in one basket, and do not understand portfolios can give you winners and losers, that being said my portfolio is 25% Rank.
Big action today, a massive sale and the price goes up.??.
Agreed Nick it is very much alive, and when it moves it moves quickly, I thought the trading update was good(definitely not nondescript) with growth across the board in all departments. Rank is the biggest holding in my portfolio by a long way, and I will continue to add as and when it is possible, I have a target of at least £1.50 for Rank, which I do not believe is in the slightest bit unrealistic, and they hopefully should resume dividend payments when appropriate.
I think one of the problems with this share is the spread, it can appear as much as 5p at times, but when you get a quote it is less than 1p. SUPERSONICTRADER The Casino always wins, but agree with you on the buying opportunity at this price.
I do not know the reason for the recent pressure on the share price, but it is a good entry point in my opinion, and for the last two hours of trading today the spread was as good as it gets with this share, it is already my biggest holding, and I will keep adding to my holdings in Rank at the current valuation.
The 16:20 trade sure enough was an AT trade, gosh MaryBr190 that is a lovely sum to be holding in Rank, well done.
Also the AT trades seem to adhere to the spread prices as has happened with 16:20 share sale just now, again I do not know why, but guaranteed that 16:20 trade will be an AT trade.(find out in 15 mins)
Jg68 I do not know why but the spread here is usually a nonsense , typically in reality there is under a penny difference between buy and sell price, at the moment quote is 67p sell and 72.2p buy with aj bell, but the real price is 69p buy 69p sell.
The share price has been under a bit of downward pressure the last three trading days, I have been adding throughout, and today at 12.15 the buy was at 65p and despite numerous attempts I could not buy any, not even one share, the sell was at 62p and MM would take all my shares @62.35p, 4 minutes later sell at 65.5p. At the moment I can sell at a better price than I can buy For, it is a dodgy game sometimes.
I think this has become a good punt at this price if a deal is negotiated, I believe there is more upside than down, also they have sold the Greek operation that I believe would have had a positive impact on the share price without any potential takeover talks, so it is a case of no takeover and share price back to 50p or takeover at ???(but at least 70p).
I have been shocked, surprised, and disappointed by your derisory comments and the mocking of posters on this board in recent weeks, it was only a few months ago that you were squealing about the Wizz Air share price(on both LSE and ADVFN), and howling at Davidkov for deramping Wizz(even though he was ludicrous), at the time I felt for you. You now appear to be doing a similar thing as Davidkov was doing with Wizz, you should know better, it is no fun when you are losing money, so disappointed with someone whom only a few months ago I felt sorry so sorry for.
