Chill everyone. When I started off as a Project Manager I worried about almost everything but as I matured I realised I could not control ether Engineers or other stakeholders who changed their minds or forgot something during the estimating stage. What was important is how I reacted and what decisions I made. The budget is out of our control. The decision by UK Government to award, or not to award RR with an SMR Contract is out of control. Listen to the budget and news then decide your course of action depending on your circumstances. But most of all chill and get back to RR discussion.

Investorintheknow. I also know people who milk the system and think nothing of it. But is that any different to those minsiters, Lords, MP's etc who milk the system? No it's not. We have a society where many believe they are entitled to benefits, lucrative contracts, back handers etc. There were always people who take advantage of the situation and unfortunately whichever Government is in power they need to address those taking a lend at all levels in society. Sadly our politicians from whatever persuasion are only interested in themselves and I therefore cannot see it changing. We do need a system where people claiming they are ill are formally checked over but who does that and how do you tell someone who is likely to get violent they are not eligible? GP's etc struggle as it is without creating additional unworkable demands on them.

The challenge is three fold. 1) Create Mass employment opportunities (private sector has failed to deliver) via efficient Government investment. 2) Reduce benefits claimants (while maintaining truly genuine help to those in need) by moving people into the employment created and 3) Improve health of the population through proactive (forced if necessary) education and practical (Not monetary) help.

Excellent interview especially about mutually beneficial contracts. I once worked for someone who was out for a win/lose outcome at all costs. Negotiation is about having a fair deal and for both sides to make money and prosper.

Tufan is very focussed and a breath of fresh air. It's good that he talks about changing people for the right characteristics. I've seen Global companies where people are stuck in their ways and as he says team building etc does not work. Having worked for about 45 years I've seen a handful a great managers, and too many to count, who were appalling.

I can't imagine a factory at Scotch Corner in the middle of nowhere. More likely Teesside Freeport where infrastructure for grid connection exists. Old Enron Power station demolished years back

Igspop, My experience of Jacobs is they manufacture extra hours during the estimation phase that is beyond belief which looks to sink projects in Admin for their gain. More adversarial approach. Some excellent Engineers though.

NotZero, I would have thought the footprint would be relatively small and therefore civils prep etc would be minimal. I was thinking civils containment being complex and lengthy. Connection to the grid could be done in less time than 500 days due to lead tome for switchgear etc although distance from existing infrastructure may presumer issues. Welding standards I imagine would be onerous but how many would be required? How big are the modules?

I'm surprised it says 500 days to build on site taking into account my Petrochemical experience of modular builds but Civils may (probably) be more complex for nuclear builds. I wonder what the shop build programme would be for nuclear. I hope Jacobs are not involved!

Very bullish presentation but they all are. I'm down on a small Punt so will be holding, average 35p. It could go either way but the latest fund raise was not positive. I think it's a watch this space share over the next few years.

You are right they are all crooks. When they say they are being transparent about recording gifts etc this is nonsense. They should not be allowed to accept gifts where there is a conflict of interest or where they could be influenced when making decisions. And that means they would rarely be allowed to accept gifts. I was invited to Wimbledon mens final with my wife once and we had a dispute with the Contractor offering the gift. I could not accept it quite rightly although my wife who is tense mad was very disappointed!!

Fordm not saying that. I’m commenting on the report that said she had senior position on HS2 and Covid vaccine. They are not excellent project to be associated with. Eg HS2 significantly overspent and not delivered albeit Rishi stopped and gave away the money as a bribe and Covid vaccine delivered with a bottomless pit of money. Maybe RR see something I don’t and they will obviously be privy to much more info than I.

Cev, Thats what I was thinking as well. 🤣 I've seen and worked with many senior people and it's easy when you are given buckets of cash which HS2 and Covid fall into those categories. We will see if it's a good appointment.

HS2 and Covid on her CV. Anyone can deliver with a bucket load of cash. We need someone with proven commercial delivery. An interesting appointment.
