RE: Impact on GDR?16 Aug 2020 14:41
Hey Grim - agreed, the whole BC link up is to improve the process, not just the test, the holistic process in labs and lack of automated solution is the hindrance to ramping up testing (akin to evolution of many other manufacturing processes). This is where it appears DB & BOD directors focus has been, and whilst approval delays frustrating, it’s the right (IMHO - time will ultimately tell) strategic positioning.
GDR product ticks all the boxes for enabling manufacturing to meet increasing demand, just needed the big strategic partnership, which will hopefully prove successful post proof of concept, to then rollout “high throughput laboratory test”. Per post last night, clues were there in RNS’s - just look back as far as 5th May placing RNS (well worth a read (or re-read) for amount of detail included):
“As announced on 25 March 2020, following the rapid global shift of healthcare emphasis towards testing and treatment of COVID-19, the Company refocused a significant part of its core resources towards development of two SARS-CoV-2 tests to detect people with active COVID-19 infections. The first test, which is circa three weeks from market, is a high throughput laboratory test and the second test, expected to be launched circa December 2020, is a point-of-care test that would run on a Genedrive(R) instrument. The Directors believe that the Company's skill set is also relevant for developing high throughput laboratory based tests and that the Company will be able to leverage its strong development, manufacturing and commercial relationships in its SARS-CoV-2 tests. The Company is expecting to make use of its existing distributor relationships as well as new distributors and some direct sales in accessing the markets for SARs-COV-2 testing.“
Per my earlier post earlier alluding to use of our assays in current BC lab testing (and foot already in the door with NHS, per last week PHE award), we may also be able to replace / enhance existing testing deployed under danaher umbrella - depending how collegiate these partnerships become (or, whisper it, if bought out).
