Massive sulfide is always good, ultra-mafic, breccia, rhyolite. Know enough to know these are often good along with "huge mineralised system" or bonanza or mother lode. Pyrite not so good - fools gold. Anything pyro makes me a bit nervous.
I know gold can be nuggety, on quartz veins, alluvial, hard/soft rock or microscopic etc. Probably nuggety or alluvial is my favourite. Guess for drilling results ore or microscopic is the most reliable. Know alluvial is the cheapest to extract near surface with diggers and washplant.
I notice when CEO wants you to not understand the drill results that's when they turn to the esoteric geologist to pick out some really interesting features, and not explain them.
