Is bit possible to email Lincoln directly and ask him if the share drop is related to a Mill issue, and hopefully get a response to nip this in the bud directly

It's possible the sell off here is related to the global sell off that's happening all over ATM, just a thought. Nearly all my other shares are being savaged at present. Without clairvoyance only time will tell I guess, should only be a week or two before Q1s I guess.

Sorry humdrum that's wrong, the Italian scandal sent the SP for something like 450p to 300p. It then rose to 350p, and a series of OFCOM penalties sent it down to 280p..... after that it's been a combination of market malaise and sour feeling towards BT that brought us where we are.

Are getting savaged again, actually BT is fairing fairly equal to most, better than some. Scant consolation mind you

Government and civil servant institutions such as OFCOM hold little regard for private investors BP, look at Carillion, PIs were told to man up and take the medicine. Ì think if it got to the point where BT were haemorrhaging and looking to make people redundant things would change.... other than that, it is was it is I'm afraid.

As infuriating as these drops are, BT is merely following the FTSE for this past week..... so I think charting and calculating company specific support levels is meaningless. It will simply do what FTSE does in the short term. ...... IMO

Well there are risks and hurdles to over come - thats why the SP is low. If there wasn't the SP would still be near a fiver. However as long as you have a long term mind frame, the hurdles should be over come and hey presto you have a low SP average and things are looking rosier. All depends on your faith that the pension deficit eye can be overcome and patience, but rising interest rates and draw back of QE should sort that out, given time

"personally" I am not too bad ATM, so its easy for me to say, but im building my position slowly and tracking it down - buying when all are losing their heads. Im probably knee deep here at the mo, on about 15% loss but im relaxed as its only a smallish holding. "IF" it gets to 150p as some have banded around I will kitchen sink it. If it got a lot lower than that I would remortgage and add that. Having said that I understand why people would fret on large paper losses and sell, but that's only a wise thing to do if you think this will see a further large loss from here. according to the charts it hit low 70's in 2009 - but that's a smoothed out chart, so its likely it hit lows of lower than that, high 60's is plausible. Wish I had backed the truck up and filled up back then, however I was skint lol.

I think the sky high price of crude has investors finally realising even SO should be turning a profit. Good to see MXO finally back to moving with the POO.

Also as a caveat to the shorting comments, i can't seem to find any hint of British telecom on shorttracker, implying no / not many major short positions...... Although I find that surprising given the performance over the past year

Ì wouldn't say I was particularly implying anything too strongly, but Blackrock do seem to be repeatedly associated with shorting activities. Anyhoo, blood bath on the FTSE today! Take a look at the top 20 fallers! 5% - 20% drops all over the place. Yikes.

My gut feel on the cash call was it was to fund the new CPR (due to timing), but I don't know how much a CPR costs !

Agreed DB, moreover if this is a seller who knows something that the rest of us don't that has significant financial impact - that's insider trading as far as I'm concerned. If there is an issue like the last time at the mill, this MUST be RNSD as far as I'm concerned. If they do this again im getting onto the NOMAD. .... having said that hopefully it's innocent trading and we get good Q1
