T - that is great information. I will certainly have a look into CCL later this evening - I have to find a home for my Bohoo profits somewhere. Thanks very much.
T- Cheers. Bohoo has certainly worked out well for me so far.
By the way, in the interest of keeping everyone informed. I closed my short on Bohoo earlier today. I am now looking at taking a long position tomorrow as I think that three days of double digit losses must now lead to a bounce on day 4.
We shall see if I am right tomorrow!
Hi T - No I have not heard anything about travel sales and I agree with you that this probably indicates that there is nothign much to shout about there.
You know my opinion anyway - I think that we are being nudged and actively encouraged to "staycation" this year.
Bohoo is not finished it will definitely come back, but it will drop further today.
I am incredibly irritated that I closed my short on Monday and missed the gains that would have been made this morning but luckily I did get back in this afternoon and left this one open as I think that this will take another pounding tomorrow.
A lot more money to be made going short on Boohoo IMO as the bad news storm around them seems to be decreasing.
T - I have already made good money from shorting Bohoo today. It was clear as day that the stock was going to collapse today after being exposed for slave labour on the front page of the Times this weekend. It was just a quick easy win really.
Good evening all. I have been busy making money today on the Bohoo collapse. Did anyone else get in?
I don't think anyone would have predicted yesterday's derby winner.
Thanks.
Pubs open and racing back on. It is almost like the world has gone back to normal.
T my apologies, I did think that you had said you were in Scotland. Much better weather in your neck of the woods though I believe?
Just back from a drive to the shops and it's weird driving by pubs and looking at them all preparing to open up (most are opening at midday). It's quite strange to actually see people behind the windows as I have got so used to them being empty.
I have the say the atmosphere seems pretty festive - a both like the day before a massive World Cup semi-final or something . I am going out to a pub in the countryside tonight for a meal and a drink. It feels like things are getting back to normal.
T - I hope you get your booking in somewhere nice for the 13th, but the pubs and restaurants up in your part of the world really need to get the insides open to be viable due to the weather don't they? I lived in Edinburgh for a couple of years and always used to say that it was one of the most beautiful places in the world when the sun was shining and the sky was blue - but unfortunately this only happened about four times a year!
Normally exactly now would be beer O'cloock, but with the pubs still closed that will have to wait until next week. Have a nice weekend everybody.
Organised crime made billions out of OneCoin. How people were stupid enough to fall for it I have no idea.
I assume that you cannot be logged into more than one account simultaneously.
Not the best results today harry, better luck tomorrow.
Re Trading - Can I just say that in many years of buying and selling shares I have only come out at the absolute top once and that was a complete accident - I was timing out on a T20 elsewhere and so had to close another trade to pay it. I would have held on to this longer but actually got out as the highest trade ever in the history of the company (even to this date). But there was no skill involved, it was dumb luck.
Every time I try to do it by skill I fail so I no longer beat myself up about buying at the bottom and selling at the top. Any deal that I make money on is a good deal.
T - I am not sure which is bigger either However, I do not think that this is the important point. It is the ancillary spending that makes the big difference. All of the meals out, bike hires, pub drinks bought etc will leave billions in whatever country that UK tourists go to. If they largely stay in the UK then that money stays here and if they largely go abroad then that money leaves the UK never to return. By focusing support on the external travel industry we also inadvertently send billions out of our economy and into those of our European neighbours. If we focus support on the UK industry (and make foreign travel as difficult as possible this summer) then all of those may billions stay in the uk
According to page 5 of the following abta book https://www.abta.com/sites/default/files/media/document/uploads/Cebr_report_outbound_tourism.pdf UK tourists spent £7.9 billion in Spain in 2016 and this was 31% of UK tourists spend just in EU countries so that is just shy of £30 billion spent in the EU by UK tourists and there is another £15 billion of GVA (gross added value) to these economies.
It's big money.
I have to be honest and admit not only am I based in London but I was actually born there too. I hope nobody minds lol! I did live in both York, Edinburgh, Sheffield and Glasgow for some years so I am a cosmopolitan Londoner!
Yeah, but all of the airport jobs will come back again when passenger numbers pick back up and Airbus are makign those redundancies due to global conditions. No airlines are going to be buying new planes tomorrow even if we open up all the flights to everywhere today.
We are just at the beginning of a horrible mass of redundancies as the true economic damage from covid 19 hits. These should have happened back in March but the furlough scheme held them off. It's going to be a hard ride but a good trading opportunity!
