founded or unfounded worry?28 Dec 2019 17:09
I have been following this story, and am keen to see it play out, hoping for a good future return, however I have a niggle, please could you give me you opinion if this view is founded or unfounded.
The big hits (views) that can generate big bucks come from the big games i think is true to say.
Does anyone here truly think the big games that are already generating their own massive income just from being one of the big ones would also be willing to jeopardise player experience and their reputation by having adverts in them which could lead to players being put off not to mention the real life equivalent sports games already having their own paid up sponsors and would expect their brand to be in their naturally or at least not a competing brand, like F1 sponsors or football club sponsors and any extreme sports sponsors or the like.
I can see the model working now as is, and for more equivalent games but just cant see the big names risking their brands for a more money when they are worth millions already.
Equate it to product placement in films, back in the 80's it was the done thing even in top movies, however that soon petered out with the realisation the it detracted from the experience, and is although still used, it is to a much lesser extent and on films that are not box office smashes.
You would never and don't get it in top films now, b and c list films/games that need to bump their revenue yes.
I would like to invite opinion please not abuse, please note i am not saying I think this, just posing the thought as it has always bugged me with this model.
