J.B You need to do more research. Th already onerous conditions now placed on UK Oil and Gas exploration companies are getting more stringent every year. Tullow Oil has been mentioned., They have been concentrating in Africa now for many years. Companies looking to invest in an asset are looking ahead ten years and more. Unless the political scene changes which is unlikely then any payback will have to be very generous in the extreme. Diversity is the name of the game now, and those with the largest pockets are looking ahead to geo thermal production. A change of attitude may harden even further with a change of government, companies have to take this risk into consideration with due diligence for share holders.
I am no greenie, and those now getting 3 months jail I would like to see given 3 years, but one cannot hide away from what is now being planned from 2030 onwards by large companies does not include O & G.
We will use up the now freely available resources that you outline, but changes towards renewables are inevitable. New expensive fields to develop will be overlooked. Putting money into these future developments is where I'll be heading. No more buying in small oil companies for sure. I've seen enough over many years. My punt into this field ends when I sell my RBD shares, hopefully at a profit, but that's now very doubtful. I bought in at 0.4p
