Poem for Bedtime Response16 Oct 2024 19:32
Read it before you tuck yourself into your warm beds
The windfall tax, a heavy blow, DIVERSIFIED NOW, PLUS, CARBON CAPTURE UK MONEY.
Harbour Energy feels it slow. SLOWLY SLOWLY CATCHY MONKEY (look it up).
Once profits flowed like oil untapped, OR GAS
Now shrinking fast, the market’s trapped. WHAT GOES DOWN ALWAYS GOES UP
Their shares once strong, now taking flight, NEVER FOLLOW THE CROWD
Plunging down from dizzying heights. ITS NEVER REACHED DIZZY HEIGHTS
CEO Linda Cook stands tall,
But even she can’t stop the fall. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A WOMAN
She steered the helm through stormy seas,
Guided growth with expertise.
Yet now the tax cuts into gains, NOT IN OTHER DURISTICTIONS.
Harbour Energy feels the strain. CUTTING CLOTH AS REQUIRED
The North Sea fields they drill so deep,
No longer promises to keep. THOSE ASSETS CAN BE SLOWED DOWN UNTIL TAX ISSUE ARE MORE IN KEEPING
With rising costs and profits slim, COSTS ARE NOW LOWER PER BARREL
Their future path looks dark and grim. GLASS HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY I AM FORMER
Investors fret, and questions rise, ONLY THE DAY TRADERS NOR REAL INVESTORS
Will Harbour still survive the tides? TIDES GO IN AND OUT
Linda Cook, with steady hand,
Holds fast, though shifting is the sand.
The tax, imposed with lofty goals,
To fill the coffers, plug the holes,
Now casts a shadow, far and wide,
As Harbour’s prospects start to slide.
Their viability once secure,
Now looks uncertain, less than sure.
The oil they banked on turns to doubt,
As Harbour’s fortune fades throughout. AND GOODNIGHT
