It seems if Russia invades then oil will keep on climbing $110 $120 $140, if Russia parks outside its $95-$98, if Russia retreats or talks about resolve then oil will return to around $85-$88. what will happen ?

"how long are we tied to current hedge?" i posted on this a few times, il type this quick, sorry for any mistakes. you need to wait over 2 years !! its in the trading statement under 2022 Outlook: A material hedge portfolio protects c.75% of forecast sales volumes to May 2023 and 50% from May 2023 to May 2024. (they forward sold 75% and 50% of all oil production at about $20 p/b less than current prices) Hence Sp is twitchy on the oil price downside, yes i'm a LTH since 17p but now i'm concerned and reduced my shareholding significantly because of this wild hedging. for the sp to spike super high (i'm sure we have all looked at Tullow's pasts share price and hope it will return to the glory days) they need to produce a ton more oil outside of the hedging or hit something super big for future production + hope oil stays high for the next 3 years and hopefully there wont be any significant down time on production. High oil prices should be smashing the 2 billion debt away and sky rocketing the sp..... but in Tullow's case its chipping away at the debt and wobbling the sp. if there were no Hedging from 2023 the SP should be over £1. well that's my take on this

there maybe a few people who sell, but most people know it will hit 4p for the 3rd time in a row. The drop yesterday had nothing to do with people selling. it was a fund raise. Nothing negative is going on for the sp to fall. No one this morning is panic selling. 88e share price always rises in the drilling campaign until final results. people who buy now are VERY lucky to get in after fund raise. We have the permit, we will be drilling, the sp will continue to rise (as always)

share price didn't drop because investors run away or from some negative reason, it dropped because they raised Cash from us Shareholders.... NO BS right now at 2.15 is the easiest money you will ever make. They now have the permit everyone has been waiting for and confirmed drilling in March. Yes i'm annoyed but I have no concerns over the share price, I will never sell this cheap, it will 100% recover. apart from the fund raise this news is very good. 4p was hit in 2016 and also 2021 drilling. it will happen again.

88 Energy (88E) has been given the green light to drill its Merlin-2 appraisal well.
The Bureau of Land Management approved 88 Energy’s permit to drill for the Merlin-2 appraisal well located in Project Peregrine in Alaska.
Commissioning of the Arctic Fox rig has now been completed, with mobilisation to the Merlin-2 drilling location set to begin. 88 Energy noted pioneering of the single lane snow road to the Merlin-2 location has also been completed.
88 Energy said the Merlin-2 well is now scheduled to spud in early March 2022, with drilling expected to take up to four weeks, including wireline logging.
“Following a period of review we are pleased to have the permit to drill in hand, and the mobilisation of the Arctic Fox rig commencing to the drilling location ahead of spud in early March 2022,” said Managing Director, Ashley Gilbert.
“We look forward with excitement to the drilling of the highly anticipated Merlin-2 appraisal well.”
The Merlin-2 appraisal well is planned for a total depth of 8,000 feet, targeting 652 million barrels of oil.
The company is in a trading halt pending an announcement in relation to a capital raise.

this is as approved as it gets. people have a short window of time to get in sub 3p (and i really mean that) 4p will be hit for the 3rd time in a row of drilling.

The BLM closely considered all substantive comments received during the public comment
period and determined that no new substantive and relevant information was provided that
had not already been considered. The BLM determined that no changes to the Emerald House
Peregrine Exploration EA were warranted based on the additional comments received during
the public comment period (See Public Comment Response Document).
Decision
We have determined that the Proposed Action, with required design features and protections,
will not have any new significant impacts on the human environment (see Addended
FONNSI) and that the proposed project is in conformance with the approved 2020 NPR-A
IAP and Naval Petroleum Reserves Production Act of 1976.
The decision will meet the contractual exploration rights for Emerald House to conduct
exploratory drilling and testing on their federal oil and gas lease.

to your comment "Falling in a rising market...not the best sign of things"......... The Reason is tullow's low Share price and lack of activity on this board is because most people know 75% of all Tullow's oil sales are effectively pre sold for around $70 a barrel for 2022 -may 2023 and pre sold 50% may 2023--2024. even if oil hit $120 tlw will only see 25% of production at that price. They got To horney with the hedges to protect debt payments and these high oil prices won't delete the 2 billion debt fast until these hedges run out, hopefully they will calm down and wont waste any more cash doing it. so If there wasn't any hedges then yes the sp would be going up much faster and there wouldn't be people still shorting the stock. just from following 88e for 5 years the main fuss regarding the permit decision is the expectation based on the history of hitting minimum 4p sp just on drilling news flow for a 3rd time in a row 2016, 2021 and now 2022, hence the SP is so much higher already because 1000's people already know what's coming.. Also oil is now $90 not $60 so the prize is so much higher and therefore should reflect in much higher sp spikes.

When the Permit is given next week, this will go ballistic to 4p just like 2016 and 2021.
