The UK PM moves onto Shanghai, tomorrow on his state visit. I wonder if he will be visiting Ceres power, based in Shandong Province, Shanghai with Jonathan Heywood GM ceres China?

I suppose real investors in Debenhams should be congratulating the short holders in publicising the company, they have rightly pointed to weaknesses, as most of us know weaknesses are usually opportunities for future successes if harnessed.

Weaknesses have been largely dealt with under Dan’s leadership, especially the eagerness of previous leadership to build out infrastructure before understand potential growth. US is a classic point of reference.

It’s never advisable to drive sales on a low to no profit basis like pure IT companies do. Especially when the clothing industry is so much about now and tomorrow.

Dan has focused on creating an operating model that is proven by successful retailers. Also lowering debt, and putting the savings on loan interest into driving a trading platform strategy, thus lowering inventory significantly and putting the onus on third parties to manage much more of the inventory costs.

So far, so good in preparing an operating model that can give great returns, now it’s about sales and growth, which is significantly more attractive to manage, because it’s positive behaviour as opposed to having constant distractions.

Well done to long term holders for their patience. This story can only get better now most of the shackles are off!

One thing here is clear.

The short holders such as the south coast and his allies have got Debenhams completely wrong.

The shortest have spent thousands of hours arguing that the company was doomed, and yet the reverse is actually factually true!

Debenhams continues to drive operational improvements and efficiency. Now the trading platform goes for growth based on a significantly more profitable model.

All brands are profitable.

Ceres chair Warren Finegold, is part of the UK delegation of business leaders who have accompanied the PM to China, what an honour!

The growth in Ceres power over the last few years has been exponential, indeed the whole sector has seen rapid expansion, not just the data centre power required for there huge build plan, more importantly countries and continents requiring energy independence, whilst stopping the increase in carbon emissions.

I am very happy to be contributing to carbon emissions reductions, through my investment here, it’s not a short term commitment, it’s medium to long term, the return on investment here is, frankly is a bonus.

I see Ceres as a 20 year investment, but should the technology be acquired and its method adopted widely, job done!

The share price is frankly irrelevant when you have done your research, and keep checking.
