ragtrade - what sounds good in a 2hr presentation may not always be good when it comes to the actual workings.

Boohoo don't need to do a 2hr presentation because they'll be taking their time, doing it at their own pace and getting it right. Boohoo will start small with the Debenhams platform website and add on from there. This gives Boohoo the time to sort out their back office systems. The City already know that Boohoo do things at their own pace and, more importantly, that they get it right doing it this way.

The purchase of Debenhams platform website isn't holding back Boohoo's share price because it is rising slowly but surely. What held back Boohoo's share price was the ESG. This too is being sorted and once the City see that Boohoo are determined to get their ESG right, then institutional investors will be back.

ragtrade - for me, it is Asos who have made the biggest mistakes in the past. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. It is Asos who have made the big mistakes in the past when it comes to expansion. Asos have always tried to do things too quickly and hit major problems. Boohoo have never done this, they always do it at their own pace and have got it right.

mudis - regarding your article on the Next platform website. It's worth reading the article again in full.

Next are doing everything for other brands, taking the orders/payments, holding the stock, sending out the stock and handling returns.

Boohoo's Debenhams platform website means other brands can advertise and sell their products on the Boohoo Debenhams platform website. However, the way I see it is that Boohoo will only take the orders/payments and nothing else. It's the other brands themselves who will have to hold the stock, send out the stock and deal with the returns. Returns will be outsourced by Boohoo and then sorted from there so they go back to the right brand.

I'm no IT expert. I see Boohoo have kept their IT mostly inhouse and use small specialist IT companies as necessary. Whereas, Asos use Oracle.

For me, I prefer the Boohoo route because too many problems with letting someone as big as Oracle design your systems. I see more problems with using Oracle than I do with inhouse and using small specialist IT companies.

Interim Results are due out in March. In the past they have been held on dates ranging from 6th March to 30th March.

There are more than 2,000 brands selling via marketplace or wholesale or some sort of agreed partnership on Zalando's website, including Dorothy Perkins and Wallis.

We need to remember that Asos was listed in 2000 and it's taken them 20 years to grow to a revenue of £3.3bn in 2020. Boohoo was listed in 2014 and it's taken them 6 years to grow to a revenue of nearly £1.8bn for 2020.

Boohoo are excellent at growing fast quickly.

Splice - Debenhams already have taken £400m in their last revenue. The £400m revenue came from 25% Marketplace Brands, 20% from Beauty Brands through wholesale, 25% own Debenhams Brands and 30% through wholesale from other Brands. Boohoo Group stated in their RNS that they won't do wholesale for anything other than beauty in the future.. Please read the RNS dated 25 January 2021.

GennyPrinceJnr - Boohoo have the opportunity now to be like Amazon or Zalando through buying the Debenhams Marketplace website. Amazon and Zalando are both Marketplace websites and this is where Boohoo want to be and they'll get there.

In 2019 Zalando had a revenue of 6.4bn euros whilst Amazon for 2019 had a revenue of US$281bn.

Plenty of growth for Boohoo to go for with Debenhams Marketplace website.

mtel - for me, I think Boohoo is the better long term share.

Then I would, wouldn't I. I'm a holder of Boohoo shares since 2015, bought them at around 27p and have held them ever since. They're all in ISAs, so the gains are tax free. I've held them through every up and down and will be holding them for many years to come.

I meant regarding ragtrade and wholesale. I read between the lines that ragtrade desperately needed wholesale to continue at Debenhams for his own business, hence, why he didn't want to read or know that Debenhams would no longer be doing wholesale for him and his business.

When someone is vehemently against what you're saying, it can be because of something very close to their own heart. Another life lesson that can be worth learning too. The last thing ragtrade needs is insults. Understanding is what's needed most in these situations.

John Lyttle said he wants the Debenhams Marketplace to be like Amazon or Zalando. John Lyttle never mentioned Next.

In answer to one of the questions which was, if you buy six items from six different brands, would you have to return each one to each brand. John Lyttle said they would outsource returns so all six could be returned to one address and then sorted from there.

It sounded to me like they will be concentrating on Beauty and their own brands on the Debenhams Marketplace to start with and then expand it as necessary.
