I was reading that the lowest SPs tend to be in the run up or start of a recession since the unknowns are greatest, with the average recession lasting 10 months(fingers crossed)

Reducing the forecast but keeping NEX as outperform surely says it is doing well but in adverse macroeconomic conditions.

Go onto simplywallst and check their fair value calculation for NEX, it’s 927p !! So it’s not as clear cut on there as you would think.

If I was travelling over Xmas I wouldn’t be booking train tickets, I’m sure this boost to NEX will raise the SP at some point.

I thought their might be a bid incoming and the details were being double checked, the revaluation of the estate was curious too

Has a company posted decent results and the SP gone up? What a strange day given recent trends!

Not sure what else JDW can do - they reduced debt and sold some pubs(mainly in spoons saturated areas) but external factors driven by war and supply-side shortages rule at the moment.

Noticed this yesterday, coinciding with the new menu launch. Inevitable but good to see protection of slim margins, still competitively placed with nearby pubs.

Suspect a very small divi would get the ball rolling and make it easier to have a growing divi the year after! Agree that the statement yesterday was light on specifics but given the political and economic flux no one wants to say more than they have to these days.

Can’t see where the reinstatement of the dividend is qualified against net debt/ebitda ratio in the half year statement. JJ, can you?

Has anyone else noticed wholesale gas prices now below 100? When they were up at 650 not so long ago? Can’t see much reporting on this.
Any improvement in utility bills means more disposable income and more travel.
I know the current govt omni shambles might be hogging the news.

I’d never think it was just one reason, but the reason this SP and many others are currently down so much is the invasion of Ukraine.

jlovie Tim is pleased he sold a chunk before Putin invaded and wreaked the energy market.

Having been in their pub in Holborn on Saturday it was packed and also listed as up for sale! I do wonder if Tim is trying to renegotiate the lease. There is another Spoons nearby so maybe that is another reason.

On the warm beer front, real ale is supposed to be served around 12-14C as you get the full flavour that it has. Lager etc don’t have this depth as the beer is filtered before being packed up - drinking it cold is refreshing but if it warms up it is pretty tasteless imo. It’s the real ale that keeps me returning, on the app I can search for something specific or new as there are many Spoons near me.
