We all know the story by now, CB got too exuberant with nothing of any worth to show for it but needed to keep the facade of the story going until we hit something.

The pandemic came along, we have now moved elsewhere and become even more high risk until we hit something as we haemorrhage money for this fantastic endeavour.

So the narrative in some quarters is to blame it on the board and expect them to now work for free!

I notice how all gold miners and explorers were at their highest in early 2020 and then for some reason the air got sucked out of them, or the brakes were put on their impending rise. This is not unique to Ariana resources.

Their changed strategy is risky in parts, going into the Balkan countries was always going to present its own problems.

Now we await the Tavsan permitting issues, luckily we divested out of it and got cash for it to fund Cyprus and Kosovo (ouch) and pay dividends. As for Salinbas that is unique due to its location and has its own inherent problems that we will probably need outside help for, this will cost us money and we have to divest a portion of it.

We also have the back drop of green communism (ESG), further enforced medical interventions and possible lockdowns if we do not comply!

Africa has been a bad call, Congo and Benin understandable but the silence on Tunisia in risk of offending governments ?

Even USA is not guaranteed I was in COPL and that has lost me money!

Investing in a post pandemic world of green communism is not going to make money, we did not see this coming back in 2019 for sure.

I have never lived through a time like it, a 'pandemic' that locked down the world, serious confrontation in Ukraine and this is now also playing out in Serbia and Kosovo, President Erdogan in Turkey who seven years ago experienced an attempted military coup and now the country is polarised across many lines, rampant inflation and devaluation of the Turkish lira and finally not forgetting a devastating earthquake.

I always said paying out a dividend was the wrong move and the SP has been losing traction since then.

However we have the Tavsan permitting result due soon, Salinbas ticking over in the background and Cyprus will be enacted on when market conditions are favourable.

I must admit I feel it is simply kicking the can down the road but to be positive what we are doing now in USA should have been done before Africa.

In the ideal world the Congo deal would have worked for us but we learn it is not that simple and now JR Cattaneo has to try on a a different continent. Crude oil is a long range game with some life left in it if we listen to the commentators in the industry.

I wonder which company did them and if they are still a going concern and if they are why are they not following up on what they started?

I'm still concerned the ground will not be economically viable but fully support further investigation.

Im more interested in getting the copper story but its down to market timing there, this could take another five years yet.

So what timescale are we giving our USA exploits and what if JR Cattaneo does not succeed there?
