Recently a depressing hold and maybe like me you reduced your holding over £1 . Long term it will recover but nobody can tell you when. At some point it's a buying opportunity - anything under £1 long term just that but anything cheaper is better.

Not local to the Hull area. I know from my readings they have been investing heavily in the infrastructure. My opinion is that this unit at bottom line is potentially a buy for BT but suggest that there are holders who get bored with this kind of stock and like to use the cash more adventurously as they see -it creating a buying opportunity.

My buy shows as a sell in trades . Shows you must be careful what you read. do your own research !

I always kicked myself selling these long ago at 159 - it's in the history this thread. they subsequently doubled and all the dividends. Good announcement today about the Kestrel royalty with Rio Tinto and this is projected to grow substantially by 2017. Felt confident to buy 500 this morning. dividend confirmed for this year - sure to get back to 159p.

most odd John. . In the last year at least they have always paid scrip as default option but you could elect to receive cash and you should have got your shares or cash quarterly

Yes this is confusing and I am pleased I posted late in evening not when people are trading! But surely XDividend means ex Rights. The XD date is the day you have lost your rights so to get the divi you must be in at close on the previous day. I still see this as a sell short to medium term but longer term who really knows . George Soros thinks it's a buy or a buy trade more likely. I detest this man he screwed our currency He can burn in hell for all I care !

Maybe weaker sterling will have improved global earnings and that might have helped somewhat

You will get your dividend in cash or scrip in the normal way if you are still holding your shares when the market closes the day before the Ex Dividend date . The XD date is tomorrow.

Santander have done this probably in a way that is cheaper for the bank than a rights issue. All the same if you are a small investor it helps the small investor not one little bit. The May divi will be 5 cents less witholding tax unless you take the scrip in sterling terms less than 3p. Now they plan to increase it from 2016 if the earnings provide for it. My hope is the SP will drop another 14% after XD in the run up to the Greek elections

The PDF refers to the CAPITAL INCREASE that has already been done if you actually read the PDF. It is nothing to do with the scrip dividend. The scrip for the current quarter will be based on the share price in the 4 January days previously mentioned and therefore the conversion will not be on the lower share price that resulted from the Capital Increase. Wish people would get their facts right !

The Santander notice says the new shares are to be authorised on the exchanges in Spain on 12th January and commence trading on January 13th.Ordinary Investors do not get any new shares only the quarterly scrip dividend for bthis quarter When the XD pases these will drop like a brick because the next quarterly dividend in May will be 5 cents less witholding tax!

Look at the way they have screwed investors and given a quick buck to their buddies. spain may no longer be ruled by Franco but the way they do things can you ever trust them while the same clique runs the country. Admittedly there has been the death of a much respected former head of this bank but the way his daughter the new CEO has done this stinks. Don t invest here but by all means trade it for all you can get ! Might recover a little until XD then with a much reduced yield who wants to keep there money in a Bank that NOT TRANSPARENT and acts in a Fascist way excluding investors by suspending the stocks to screw them.

With the political uncertainties next year and the global uncertainties generally that is possible. I hold 500 on a win or lose basis leaving room to add and hoping to see this stock double or treble over a year or two. This is with a likelihood of order book and profits strengthening and if oil prices stay reasonable below 80 dollars that will help.

Six new contracts one with Carillon . At 66p this is not a punt it's an investment -not without risk but but bearing in mind it's held on through bad times things are sure looking up. Also with India looking better that venture looks like turning positive too rather than being a burden

I think a good set of results would be reassuring bearing in mind the recent weakness in the stock

A bit of hassle at first but very easy once set up. The Research Centre very useful as incorporates Digital Look stuff except the ex date and pay dates -maybe that will come too. Security much enhanced and was long overdue but up and working its easy. Good broker
