RE: Thar Coal10 Jan 2023 08:56
KARACHI: ****stan’s coal consumption is set to increase to 25 million tonnes by 2025,
which is roughly 30 per cent higher than the current level of more than 19m tonnes.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) said that coal consumption in ****stan dropped
7pc in 2021 to 23m tonnes as its prices in the global markets surged to unusually high
levels. The use of coal in ****stan during 2022 is estimated to have fallen further by
3.8m tonnes, said the global intergovernmental organisation. The reason for the drop in
consumption is the unaffordability of large seaborne imports, which forces the country
to rely on supplies from domestic coal mines and land-based imports from Afghanistan.
Recent media said, still around 75% of ****stan coal use from Imports, the Government
wish to replace with local coal but principally Thar coal, Oracle could get a nice
slice of that 25 mtpa target and additional exports from Port Qasim, Naheed in October
suggested, talks in progress with the Government on the mine and mining developments.
Mine, Power Station, Hydrogen , CTG, CTL and some Gold thrown in, time Oracle got one
of them moving the sp, do not want to be raising project level funds , at these lows. GLA
