Yes I'm down 50% or so and I worry that this management team are rather head in sand or even out of depth. They've certainly made a funding error here.

Hands is an autistic pr..k who flogged 30% of this thing at 9x EBITDA which is too high. It's now on 8x odd which is just about ok. But the dividend won't last forever as the landfill gas declines. But what to do with the other 70%!!

No the overhang is a 6% stake that is up for sale that no one wants at this price as the dip ****s who run this thing did a bad deal with GIC which has created a dilutive circle of death. They might need to sell assets to stop the haemorrhaging but that is fine.

There is a 6% stock overhang from a large investment trust which has changed manager. When that has cleared it'll bounce 10-20%. But the earnings news will stop it going any higher pro tem.

I own a lot of these shares bought at around this level. Doesn't look hugely compelling on EV/EBITDA but yield is okay pro tem - it'll be cut in due course - and well managed. But abortion of a share price performance though.

Stor market is brutal right now. Alkane will be struggling here badly. Power prices poor too. All in all still too expensive.

Arden cuts its price target from 50p to 32p. Big downgrades to ongoing earnings through weak power prices.

They are falling because the power price is weak but mainly because Terra Firma has said it is examining options for selling and so the mkt is driving down the price in anticipation of this. Not great but div is still probably okay (for now) and so big yield at this price although probably not great intrinsic value as EV/EBITDA ratio is still quite high.

So the capacity mkt is totally different to stor. With stor you can lose your cost of plant, people etc if you don't run. With the CM you can lose your shirt if you run lots.

The alkane stuff will be bid into the capacity mkt whatever that looks like but it is risky. You get an annual payment but likely run at a loss when you run.

Yes but a lot of this is satisfied by spooling up ccgts. Stor is frequency response not demand response. Stor is a tiny market.

WIND is quoted and I almost bought some shares a few months ago but then the Tories said no more onshore wind. But the co is building one of several large stor plants fuelled by recycled cooking oil. The plants get, I think, 1.4 or 1.5 rocs. I suspect alkanes don't get rocs. Therefore the wind plant must be more competitive or cheaper? Or is I missing a trick!!?

Noticed that a company called WIND is building a new STOR plant running on recycled oil which gets ROCs. Will that compete with Alkanes plant?

I agree on EV/EBITDA it is fully valued. An operational wind project changes hands for 9x EBITDA and landfill for less so that the shares on 9.5x EBITDA look fully valued. But I do think the yield is probably okay for a few years assuming 4-5% decline in landfill revenues.

Yes agreed that landfill does say 65% of ebitda and that is in decline. Wind will partly compensate but the cash is probably enough to pay the divi for a few years albeit costs will fall as wind developments costs (capitalised but still cash out) fall ditto o&m. So I think it's ok for a bit but still better value than greencoat which is simply an annuity income stream for which you pay 2%!!

Cracking yield esp if you got in at sub 200p. It's brilliant!! And worth at least a 7% yield or 260-280p. Well managed too.
