If the farmout is still ot be approved, it wouldn't matter, as the Zubairs will still have a producing gas asset with 50% share of the revenue as agreed with Aminex. Having the Aminex board filled with Zubair people ensures their funding is safe.

The long stop date is set for the 15th of October because it wouldn't look good for Magufuli if tanzanian newspaper headlines say 'Zubairs Walk Away from $140m Gas Investment Due to Government Delays'. Would make Magufuli like like a cheat and scare off any other major investments, as the Government can't be trusted.

I'm not sure the Tanz government want to shell out $140m to get the gas out. Why do that?
If they really didn't want Aminex or the Zubairs to do it for them, then who would? especially if the government can't be trusted. If they really didn't want Aminex or the Zubairs, then why extend the licence? why endorse a development plan and GSA ? Tanz government could have pulled the plug months ago if it wanted, imho.

I don't think they will snub the Zubairs, therefore deal.

In general, there have been COVID delays with the Tanz Government signing approvals. It's not just an Aminex thing.
