CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, ONE OF THE PILLARS OF SOLGOLD

SolGold, a mining exploration company specialized in the search for copper and gold deposits, who directs the Cascabel project in Imbabura, in addition to 13 others that are in initial exploration around the country; maintains as one of its strategic pillars the utmost respect for the environment where it operates.
The Company is convinced that environmental responsibility is the basis for the development of the communities of influence where it is located. Therefore, and in respectful compliance with Ecuadorian legislation, it works on the implementation of initiatives and new technologies aimed at preventing, mitigating and caring for the environment, seeking greater efficiency in its processes, significantly reducing the use of resources and, therefore, minimizing the impact of its mining exploration activities on the environment.
SolGold has five main programs to protect the environment within its Cascabel mining concession, the same ones that are intended to be replicated in its other regional projects as an efficient operating model. These are:
1. Water Management: Addresses the care and efficient use of the resource. Thus, in the drilling processes, Solid Removal Units have been implemented, a water recirculation system used for the operation of drills, which allows the reuse of about 90% of the water that returns to the surface.
Similarly, 100% of industrial wastewater, as well as those generated in camps, are treated before returning to the environment, complying with all the parameters required by the Ecuadorian State and the Environmental Regulations.
2. Waste management: Technical management of waste generated in operational areas and camps. They are divided into hazardous and non-hazardous, and the latter, recyclable and non-recyclable. In the Cascabel project there is a Waste Transfer Center, as well as green points for their separation.
As part of the comprehensive waste management, the Company has implemented the cultivation of tilapia and hydroponic crops.
3. Rehabilitation of intervened areas: Identify and rehabilitate areas intervened by the Project activities, with native plants so as not to alter the natural ecosystem. To date, around 76% of the intervened areas have been rehabilitated, while the remaining 24% correspond to the currently operating areas.
4. Environmental monitoring: Monitoring of water, soil, sediments, air, noise, flora, fauna and liquid discharges, at strategic points in the concession area.
Also, the community participates in these processes through the Environmental Observatory, which accompanies, knows and involves the members of the area in monitoring campaigns of surface water bodies. With the supervision of local members, who have been trained in various environmental management issues, together with SolGold, they evaluate the Company's operations environment every six months.
