The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Sold this morning at £1.80. I reckon this is a good long term hold, but I was showing good profit after heavily averaging down during this SVB debacle and my portfolio was too heavily weighted towards UK banks. GLA.
Ah thanks, I missed that. Makes sense. Hopefully we get a decent recovery from here.
Still going! Does anyone have any idea why? I can’t see anything in the news.
I’m amazed at how much you guys are letting the trolls wind you up. Don’t get me wrong, it’s worth listening to every opinion that contradicts your own thinking, provided it there’s some basis in reality.
If someone is saying that they’re long but they think it’s going to 50p this week, or that the dividend won’t be paid without providing a reason why, just filter and move on. Life is too short.
My current position is that I’ve done a couple more top ups the last week or so, taking my average down to 82p including dividends. I’m probably not going to add to my position for now, I’m happy to wait and see.
I am amazed that the SP has gone so low. I would normally say it represents great value, but the key in the short term is the merger and how the market reacts to that imo. I don’t mind waiting for the details, but I can understand why people are getting impatient. Patience is the name of the game though

Interesting. If the dividend isn’t at risk this is superb price in my opinion. I got burned with DLG cancelling the dividend a couple of months after committing to it though. Do you think the current price reflects a belief that the dividend will be cut? DYOR.
Scary how much the market has rejected the update. But… I bought more again today at 78.7p. Seems cheap to me. The market’s going to do what the market’s going to do.
Obviously a bad move if the company is in real trouble, but I don’t think so. And I’ll take my chances this close to ex div.
I would like to see much more dynamic leadership than this though.

Crazy day. I topped up at 85p the last time Vod was in the 80s and sold that tranche for about 97p, while keeping my main holding. Bought some more today at 83p.
Is that a good move? I really don’t know anymore. But as Warren Buffett once said in his annual letter to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders:
“Fk it, let’s have some banter”
(That’s a joke, DYOR).
Thanks Pete. I already hold and I’m at about break if you include the dividend. My plan at the moment is to hold to see the benefits of the buyback.
Hi all, when does the buyback run until? I couldn’t find the full details, so if anyone has a link it would be appreciated!
I’m out at a 17% loss. I wouldn’t normally sell straight after a big drop as there very well could be a rebound, but my faith in the board has gone after this announcement so soon after saying the dividend would be maintained, so I can’t continue to hold.
Good luck to those who continue to hold, we’ll see what happens next.
Sold this morning for 20% profit. I think this share has plenty more headroom for recovery, so wouldn’t surprise me at all if it keeps going. Averaging down in October definitely worked for me.
If I was taking a longer term view I’d hold at least until the dividend is reintroduced, but I’m trying to manage risk and 20% will do me. GLA
I certainly didn’t think I’d ever be able to buy Voda at 85p, but here we are. I bought some more this morning - we’ll see how this plays out as it definitely feels risky, with a lot of unknowns at the moment.
However, my feelings are that these are reflected in the price. I definitely agree with those saying there needs to be communication from the interim CEO though.
Who knows though, certainly not one for the risk averse at the moment! This was looking so good for me as I had bought the 52 week low of £1.06 and it looked to be on the recovery for a while. Oh well. GLA
Sold out my averaging down stake at £1.16 yesterday, just above my b/e to derisk. I’m still holding though, and happy to do so. Will revisit things if/when we start to approach the 140s.
I wasn’t expecting a dividend this time round, but it’s coming eventually, so you would think buyers at this level with a long term view will be rewarded. Macro factors dictating things at the moment, but the increase in market share was positive.
GLA!
I can’t see a dividend being announced when inflation hasn’t peaked yet, particularly for food. I hope I’m wrong though!
Any guidance on when it may be reintroduced would be appreciated, and may surprise the markets. We’ll have to see. GLA
Nice rise this morning. I had a sell order set to take out my averaging down money at £1.15, but cancelled that over the weekend - as we’re so close to the half year results it seemed like a better idea to hang on a little longer.
We’ll see if that was a good decision on Wednesday ha. GLA
