My Eua journey2 Dec 2020 17:12
SO...my story is this.
Tried investing around 12 years ago with RKH and VOG, and, not knowing enough, lost the lot.
Stayed away since then.
2012 Set up my own business, worked round the clock for 5years but couldn't earn enough to warrant the risk so closed it down just over 4years ago by trading safely out, but unfortunately had used up all my life savings during the venture.
Late 2016 Got back into the work that i had tried to escape and then suffered 2 shock redundancies between December 18 and January 20 (13months) without redundancy support because not been there long enough. Had to borrow some cash from my parents in January this year just to make it through to February when my old (first house)mortgage endowment policy matured. I had written this out of my mortgages but kept it going to the end as a savings plan. This was always going to be my 'middle aged safety net'.
Then Covid/Lockdown struck...more uncertainty because the new job i luckily started in February was uncertain and I was furloughed for 2months (thank my lucky stars because lots of people in far worse positions)
Worried about the future i decided to try investing as I realized the Covid crash presented some trading opportunity so I used a bit of my new funds to dabble in some day trading, earning a few hundred profit here and there. Then when reading across LSE and generally researching & learning bit more, I came across HEMO and then EUA as the suspension lifted. Decided to do a 'he who dares Rodders' and invested ALL of my matured endowment savings into HEMO and EUA (majority in EUA presently)
Had a small amount of EUA at 14p then 21p on day 2 after suspension, which then dropped for quite a while.
Yes I was concerned and watched it closely, but never, ever, was tempted to sell out as I was convinced this was going places. At that time the guy Sam12345 was constantly on here at slightly under my entry price and freaking out, as he does, but I kept quiet and stood fir m in my belief that this share was the real deal.
I figured I perhaps have this one chance to really make a difference, rather than leave my cash in a savings account earning 0.5% a year. Risk = reward and all that. Finally got a chance to provide some form of security for me and my family.
I have now doubled my endowment plan value. took me 25 years to save it. And 10months to earn it all over again!!!!! And the best part is, for all of us, THIS IS NOT OVER YET!!!
I'm sure lot's of us have differing stories but all i can say is, these past few years have been far from smooth in my little world, but I feel like I'm about to realize something pretty special, and have learned a lot along the way. What a ride!
Good luck all whatever your story. We are on the home straight....
