I wrote last week about Simec Atlantis Energy (SAE) and the delay in determining the Uskmouth Power Station consents. I highlighted the delay in determination of the Natural Resource Wales (NRW) consent and any positive determination would then be followed by the Planning Application process. I was inadvertently wrong – the planning application is in and running and hence it is only appropriate I correct a matter of fact and what changes in my opinion as a consequence.

The rail spur at LaSalle is part of Drax’s wider efforts to cut the costs of its biomass by around a third by 2027. The rail link and other initiatives, including the co-location of a sawmill at the LaSalle site last year, has already contributed to a 3% reduction in biomass production costs to $161/ton in 2019 compared with $166/ton in 2018.

Been in it for a few months but it took me 2 weeks to research it as it’s very complex my point here being people have bought into it without research FOMO When we get news here if it’s good you won’t be worried about averages! Hi OHS thanks for the reply and some debatable points. If the UPS concept is as good as we think at some stage the pellet production will have to ramp up very quickly.
You only have to look at Drax closing 2 coal power plants next March to see the potential market in the U.K. alone. Any interim sales of subcoal would see some cash coming in far quicker which has got to be good for us and with the supply chain in place far easier to ramp up,

Engineering studies and recently completed industrial scale combustion tests provide
confidence that post-conversion, Uskmouth Power station will be able to meet the latest
emissions limit levels.
Furthermore, the contractor awarded with the EPC contract to build out the conversion
project will be expected to provide a contractual guarantee to SIMEC Uskmouth Power
Ltd that these emission levels are met as part of the power station conversion.
(ii) Planning Permission: Consent anticipated in November 2020
Planning permission is required from Newport City Council for certain new structures to
be built and infrastructure to be updated external to the power station, as well as for the
internal power station conversion works.

Hi mate who knows what will happen the price held last lockdown as it does not effect us very much our main earner Meygen will still keep on turning out green energy .Would be handy if we get an operations update on the newly installed upgrade on the AR1500 which has been running for a few months now and obviously an update to the market on progress on UPS as mentioned by Phyl on Friday. On another positive note i doubt i will get many kids knocking on my door tonight.
