Hi sam and phyl been looking into supply line for pellets
Waste Sourcing Strategy for the manufacture of Uskmouth’s waste-derived fuel
pellets
Given that the fuel supply agreement for Uskmouth Power Station (for 900,000MT of fuel
pellets annually for 20 years) requires 1.1 million MT - 1.2 million MT of raw waste each
year, the overall strategy for waste sourcing by fuel pellet supplier SIMEC Subcoal Fuels
(SSF), is to sign a supply agreement with a large UK-based Tier 1 waste company for c.
65% of the total amount of waste required (i.e. 715k MT – 780k MT) to fulfil the pellet
supply contract.
The remaining 35% of the waste required (i.e. 385k MT – 420k MT) is to be contracted
with independent waste operators in shorter term contracts or in the spot market, which
generally earns higher gate fees. This approach also allows SSF to ‘swap out’ suppliers if
they fail to deliver consistent waste at an appropriate specification.
Sourcing the waste will occur from all around the UK and is expected to come from the
North West of England, the North East of England, from the Birmingham/Midlands area
and from the London area. Significant work has been done to identify substantial
quantities of appropriate wastes in each part of the UK that N+P plants are to be built.
Identified waste streams available for contracting include:
London: >900,000MT identified as available for contracting of in-specification
materials
Midlands: >650,000MT identified as available for contracting of in-specification
materials
North West England: >600,000MT identified of in-specification materials
North East England: 850,000MT identified of in-specification materials
Seems some could be available to sell
