RE: Wood you believe it?18 Nov 2018 08:48
OMR. That research requires deeper digging. They [researchers] refer to the massive increase in wood burners, but fail to highlight the fact that the issue is cheap ineffecient burners i.e. they do not comply with the clean air act. I have a certificate with mine that has two copies, one for me and one for the jobsworth council walas. The concern is unburned material being emitted - similar to diesel. Efficient stoves don't do this. The UK press and government are way behind on this. See what they did In Norway re wood burners. All mega efficient now (government even subsidised the replacement of the sh#tty inefficient ones) and pollution problem has gone. People also burn any old crap, like MDF, chipboard, and poor quality unseasoned timber. Councils have few, if any, enforcement officers so it continues unabated. Norway has the answer, and did decades ago.
