Assets are easily sold but not so easy to buy. I am on the keep assets side. A nice open pit mine perhaps, and kit purchased to process it using LP money. Get all the ducks lined up for the gold (licences, any grants that may be about, kit, infrastructure, local government and populace onside etc) then keep it ticking along (maintenance) and in the ground until gold prices are eally good. No one needs to do a Gordan Brown here.

Bed and ISA just means buying them into your ISA. You could have a small fortune in your ISA built up over many years, but you can only add upto 20k a year. If you hold one stock, 20ks worth in an ISA, and it shoots up 300% then you now have 60k in your ISA. You can now trade that as you wish, most being free of tax and capital gains (some tnc's). If that said investment was outside your ISA and you now had 60k, you would only be able to pop 20k into the ISA. 40k would have to remain outside the ISA....or open one for your wife.

Hbob....I have no issues with the Scots leaving the Union. It would be a sad day though. I love the fact that the SNP were up in arms that EU citizens didn't get the opportunity to vote in the Referendum, they are still up in arms about it now and want EU citizens to be able to vote in any 'peoples vote (cough, cough, already had one ta). Yet, I was not allowed to vote in Scotland becoming an independent state. Hmmmm. Interesting stance by the SNP. I wonder if they did that because they [ he SNP] knew they would end up with independence as the rest of the UK said....cheerio. I would have voted goodbye just to be rid of the whingers in the SNP by the time the voting came about. SNP have been very quiet since the oil price collapsed...I wonder why that is? Silent even. I also wonder why those Scots that wanted independence are so happy to be governed by Brussels, even further away that London, even less accountable and speak another language or two. I also wonder the SNP fans would vote for independence, because they want to be a proud independent nation but would surrender all sovereignty to the EU. So many contradictions and hypocrisies that I cant get my head round it. SNP seem to be a pickle of a pickle. Even my friends that are historical Scots can't get their heads around the drive for independence, only to then hand it all over to the EU or why they even want to leave the UK. Ohhhh, hang on, it is that socialist agenda again. EU = free stuff. Please be clear, that I wish the UK to remain as is. I do, however, ask for an independent English parliament though. Anyone noticed how all the big players in the EU are childless(inc Sturgeon - sadly she miscarried)? They have no interest in the future beyond their own. Would the SNP have been happy for a second independence vote if they had won...me thinks not. Vote, vote, and vote again until you give me the answer I want said El Presidenta aka Herr Sturgeon?
Hbob the Spanish would veto and independent Scotland joining the EU. It is highly likely that the Belgians would too. For reasons of Catalonia and the Flemish.
I wish all socialist well...perhaps they can start by emptying their bank accounts and donating it all to the local NHS trusts and Local Authority schools (not many left mind). I would also urge them to give bedrooms and food (indefinitely) to those that have neither. Actually, no. Just sell your house and let the state have it. Why should someone on an apprenticeship, working in a factory, joining the army, working in the voluntary sector etc aged 16-25 subsidise someone choosing to study a Golf Course Management degree at University?

Eggy...I hear ya. Leave meant leave. Remain meant remain. I dont recall seeing anything about some fudgy deal option. I don't recall seeing the deal option at all on the ballot paper. They are a disgrace. What we are witnessing in France could well be a precursor for Europe as a whole, including here. If the Government does not now go through with a straight no deal Brexit then I fear for the UK. Politics is already damaged (politicians are despised by most) and any failure to follow a democratic vote is the final nail. Whatever side you are on, you can surely see that not following a democratic decision is the downfall of politics and we cannot ever have a system of 'keep voting until we [politicians] get the answer they want' - as they do in the EU (see Irish rejection of Lisbon Treaty - see Dutch No vote and french no too, later not being the Lisbon treaty). Don't get me started on the Lisbon treaty. For me, remaining means further EU integration and therefore we do not need a UK parliament at all. We do not need all those pigs with their noses in the trough to merely administer EU rules and legislation. So by voting to remain, long term they (politicians] are saying bye bye UK parliament.

Geng...thanks for the chart. It is nice to have someone pop a chart on that isn't a knob. (Bonkers, that clearly isn't you) That looks like the pinch I was referring to. Some news around then will help the push north. Maybe MM is using the charts too and can see that pinch point.
