Spiv Traders10 Mar 2020 10:54
Are you aware of Spiv Trading? I normally see Spiv Traders on other BB’s, but with SEE it seems LSE is their best outlet. This type of trader uses BB’s as a way to influence a share into a particular direction (I’ll give examples at the end) and never fights SP direction. Spiv trading works by buying at a low point and riding a rise selling on the turn of direction, during this phase posts will be mostly positive. After selling you will see increased posting focussing on any negative that can be alleged and sometimes proven, helping undermine any positivity which results in holders selling way below a natural low SP point, buying back in and performing turn-coat. I do not believe shorting is a part of their portfolio as it is a risky strategy through spreadbetting.
Do not underestimate these individuals or small groups, (Lewbo already spotted the plural used this morning) but in my experience individuals banding together does happen but is rare. I also suspect multi-accounts are also in play and I have successfully had avatars banned by LSE in the past via Admin (on other BB’s admin are pathetically weak and harder to encourage act). The multi-account posters use Avatars playing “devils advocate” to be able to turn the pressure on a downtrend.
For now I feel it is better to keep avatar names out of this, but a certain negative poster has only posted once since mid February (lack of attention due to filtering by many?). Whilst a newly outed avatar has posted positive until mid February and since has relentlessly deramped and seems to be enjoying todays RNS.
There are only three ways to counter Spiv traders and that is 1/ to prove them factually wrong and relentlessly call them out over it (discreditation) 2/ to filter – this is the most effective as Spivs love to undermine positive posters and rile them 3/ to get multi-accounts banned – this is really difficult and if you go to admin you HAVE to be correct otherwise admins will treat you with utter disdain.
I therefore thoroughly recommend option 2. Btw I do not count posters like Baxter to be spivs, he is just someone worth listening to even if sometimes its hard to read.
