If people want extra stop guess (suggested by isb1974) for perhaps every 4 months please say so – I can add in or leave as is
Happy Christmas one and all
Is there any appetite for a guess the SEE Share Price competition to be run until the last day of 2021. Just for fun, with no prizes, just kudos to the winner. It will operate in the form of two speculative price nominations as stated on LSE.
1/ the Share price COP 2021 (Friday 31st December 2021)
2/ the highest spike price for the whole year – to be used as a tiebreaker if two or more sages state the same price nomination.
Is there any appetite for this? Proposed closing date for entries Thursday 31st December 2020. I will even take the “Green Blobs” off filter for seasonal good will.
Apologies for the type
3rd November reported by SEE "Guardian connected to over 23,000 units across 26 countries, globally" (30th June)
Todays RNS reported as 30th November stand at 26,000 wih 3,500 pipelined
Now for the corrected typo That is 3,000 units in 6 months, a massive jump representing 10% of the total installed. In the global conditions that is very good IMO. To also have 3500 pipelined shows a great uptick in volume (Pandemic allowing of course)
Bud are you having a bad day?
In the presentation from 3rd November 23,000 units were installed. Todays RNS reported as 30th November stand at 26,000 wih 3,500 pipelined. That is 3,000 units in one month, a massive jump. Mike Lenne moving into a new position where he will be able to influence testing so there are no more Smarteye BS claims
I am quite frustrated by this situation with Supercruise. All I understand about Tech and the Computer industry has shown companies to like to develop a style for a particular line. THX certification in Panasonic TV's, Sonos only working over WiFi, Hewlett Packard only use Intel Xeon chips in its power end, there are so many examples of the Tech industry developing a line and not breaking the prestige. Why would GM do it with Supercruise?
Imagine a customer buying a new car with Supercruise only to find out his supercruise is not the same as the award winning software in the Cadillac? The video of the Hummer at 27.39 visually looks the same as the Cadillac. In the Bolt the claim that Supercruise is superior to Tesla Autopilot would surely not be made if they risked it not working as well. The Chevy interior picture shows that same wheel controls as the Cadillac.
Yet the claims by Smarteye and Eyesight have to have a grain of truth in there somewhere. I have speculated that Smarteye will win the bottom end models. I feel GM will come out with a different version, lets call it “notasgoodcruise” for this technology in less prestige cars.
It is very clear on this neutral report that BMW did not have its DMS switched off. Look at page 12 where the report clearly states both Smarteye in BMW and Eyesight in the Subaru (if that is Eyesight rather than a name used by Subaru?) really are poor competition. We all fell for Smarteye BS.
https://data.consumerreports.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/consumer-reports-active-driving-assistance-systems-november-16-2020.pdf
"Opportunities to Improve: Although the? BMW and Subaru vehicles have an infrared camera, it is not used to continually monitor the driver while the active driver assistance is engaged." Why would this test report say this if they were switched off?
I have been saying this a little too much lately, but a lot of what I read indicates 2021 is going to be huge. Not intended as a ramp, just feeling almost positive (still a couple negatives that buzz around in my head)
johnny19, perhap it was but with both Eyesight and Samrteye making claims against GM it does seem to be the case. Thi is where we need clarity, and it seems only the cars on the road will provide this. That starts in 2021.
David, under PM's leadership there have only been 2 RNS's with A$ attached (not inc Fleet). A "German OEM" for A$11-30m July 19 and an "expanded OEM" worth A$23m and since then ... silence. Personally I take this as a deliberate strategy, or at least I HOPE this to be the case. It seems PM wants to do the exact opposite of Smarteye and Eyesight. This Autumn PM released 3 rampy unspecified pieces of "news" aimed at rising the SP ahead of the Hermes fundraise, again deliberately not speculating on worth.
You ask what has changed for PI's, well in truth short term the newsflow has been restricted / frustrating and is highly unlikely to change from SEE. One of the largest complaints I have is where do we stand with GM. PM admitted to have taken his eye off that ball, which hints that either or both of the competition have stolen business there and they certainly claim this is so. Where I really get confused is that large companies like GM like to have control over how software operates within their cars and it seems they are prepared to muddy the Supercruise water. I want clarification from somebody, sometime!
However as models get released from the big manufacturers (coppertraders post earlier today is an example of timeline) then the DM provider will get released during 2021 for cars on the road. I suspect 2021 will be very different, I HOPE 2021 will be very different.
I am a long term PI that is holding not because I have lost opportunity, but because I believe I think this is a rare chance to hold shares in a company that will be worth multiples of its value today. I am however sceptical of PM's worth and frustrated at the lack of clarity.
These green Blobs are not Depressives, just people trying to trade a share (nothing wrong with trading) but purposly post downsides and possible neatives all aimed at driving the price down. Their commentry is not aimed at you, but casual observers that can be influenced to sell and get the price down. They post in SP indecisive days and just cannot see right from wrong.
I am a natural depressive and if you see my latest posts you can see my mind laid bare, commenting on how I see negatives along with the positives. Luckily on this BB there are people like Thelongestshot willing to correct my fears and post back (which I am grateful for).
Were we not informed that the DMS in the BMW (Smarteye) was switched off for the test? Where did that information come from (from Smarteye?) It is very clear on that report that these are not upto standard, by extension both Smarteye and Eyesight in the Subaru really are poor competition. Apologies if this aspect has been discussed before, or if I am jumping to conclusions.
It is competition for Fleet though
Anyway worth a read down the doc to page 12 if you have not accessed it already:
"Favorable Implementations:? The infrared camera in ?Cadillac?’s Super Cruise and ?Comma Two?’s Open Pilot are the best driver monitors. They ensure the driver’s eyes are open and looking forward."
"Opportunities to Improve:?? Although the? BMW? and ?Subaru? vehicles have an infrared camera, it isnot used to continually monitor the driver while the active driver assistance is engaged." Isn't this Smarteye and Eyesight both getting a good slapping by this commentry?
But who is Comma Two, Open Pilot? Page 6 of this doc:

A bit miffed the Cadillac was pointed down on Ease of use, I hope that is based on the Cadillac's controls rather than SEE's
