What a cracking day, I even managed to reopen my dormant Halifax stocks and shares isa, so I can transfer from my standard (taxable) dealing account Over

Took ages to sort, but a helpful chap reopened the dormant account, and he said he could transfer for around £100 -£125 apparently they can get a good price to sell from one account and buy in the other, the transfer fee is £25 per individual holding, fair enough “let’s do it”

Apparently Val was at the time volatile and the cost would be around £500 but he said he would not be able to do the deal (that’s the rules) and best try again when it’s more settled?

What a pain :)

Doog, I’ve always been aware of the CGT allowance, I just didn’t really think I would have such a problem, but now it’s getting close to being one, I’ve always been a bit last minute dot com lol

I’m looking into a gold pension at the moment, as I’m convinced it’s going to go to at least £3k per Troy oz during this recession, and silver possibly £40-50 per oz but you can’t hold silver in a pension, Shame as I Believe it has the potential to rise to £100 per oz in the next 4 years ?

I’m getting the wife to open an account and we will top up there for now, also she has an old Scottish widows pension, so we are going to look at transferring to a sipp then buy some more Val shares from there

I have a feeling that this week we are going to rise very quickly :)

If I had 8a11s of steel I could transfer my personal pension pot to a sipp and buy loads of Val shares and potentially walk away with millions :)

The question is do you know if I can transfer Val shares from my dealing account to the isa dealing account without having to sell and re - buy them?

When I purchase Val shares 9 years ago i was a total novice, still am really :) i only invested 1k for a bit of fun, now it’s a fairly serious chunk of money, and the prospect of paying CGT is one I don’t relish

It’s called “living the dream” bl00dy fair play!

Bm, The wife and I have 4 kids between us, my 3 are all working hard, and my step daughter has left school and once she is on her own two feet, were off! However we do “quite like” the kids so we need enough money to make regular trips back here and treat the kids/ grand kids to plane tickets to visit us etc

We could have a comfy “simple” life out there for about €12,000 per year, very cheap indeed, but I’m aiming for €30,000 so we don’t have to scrimp and can see the kids often....

So many people just don’t have a plan, if I fail, we will compromise and say just holiday out there 3-6 month of the year and continue to work while we are in the U.K. until we do have enough :)

Bm, this is my master plan, I’m going to top up Monday, at some point in September when this share price hits £2.36 I’m going to sell and invest in silver and some gold and at the point this (huge recession) is showing a hint of being over I will sell, I’m banking on doubling, at that point the house prices will be very low, poss 20-30% lower than today?

I will then purchase a 2nd property “outright” with the profit and move to a Greek island and live off the rent from my main home and my new purchase, it should be a reasonable income along with our pensions

I will Go fishing and swimming in the sea most days and drink wine every day and eventually die a happy man with a failed liver!

Oh and I’m not jesting, that’s the plan :))

Bm, I would be over the moon for 14p but if it’s 18 does it “really” matter?

Last week the share price rockets on opening, then the price seems to dip in the day and rise again at close, so I’m going to try and hit it just right..... bet I don’t though lol

SG, an uplifting post, I think I my join you on Monday for a top up, I have a very odd number of shares and it’s messing with my OCD.... :)

Vicjain, my wife has never been happy with me investing in Val, especially after my first dabble 1k about 9 years ago, that 1k went down to under £10

She has on many occasions taken great delight in reminding me all about it :( however I’ve built up a nice holding over the last year or so

My average is now 10.5 p, I let her read all about synairgen this morning, then I gave her a run down on Val etc

I then showed her my Halifax share dealing account, she was quite impressed :)
