Schlml. Brilliant info on SA. After digesting NM's webinar presentation further I can't stop thinking about the cost to build Escondida. The numbers are staggering. Water alone $3 billion. Building a port. Highways. Electricity.
Cascabel already has all these. The savings, which the PEA will show, are mind blowing. Any takeout price will have to be altered by this savings number. Obviously NM thinks that the PEA numbers are going to be incredibly commercially viable. PEA will be a game changer. Total outlay is all that matters for an acquirer. NM knows this and doesn't think the market does. Thus his insistence on building it out. The market focus's on takeout price without concern that the build out cost is going to be materially lower than comparable tier 1 assets. NM knows this and wants SOLG to be compensated for this savings which the market hasn't even come close to recognizing.
PEA PEA PEA....!!!!!!!
Thanks Strider. Great insight. It's funny the things that stick out. I thought it was fascinating that Escondida mine in Chile cost $3 billion for water alone and that they are having big issues with quality of water at Escondida. I was very impressed by his approach with locals and how much he sounded like a GM of a sports team. He's really an impressive man. Putting a team together with incredible thoroughness.
I actually wonder if Ecuador has made a deal with NM. You let BHP have Cascabel (at a price) and we will make it easier for you on your next concessions. Evidenced by minister complementing SOLG. NM commenting on Govt being happy BHP is on the register. Govt trying to attract the bigger miners.
It gives Ecuador credibility if they are doing deals with BHP, Rio.....
There's something fishy about how fast BHP did a private deal with NM. Any thoughts on this??
very will said adknt... I would really like to see copper break out of it's current range as there really is not alot of excitement at these levels. Investors attention is so narrow and short sighted currently. As copper rises people will be running for SOLG and this board will light up like a Christmas tree...... Hold on ??? Maybe we are very very close!!!!!
Great day to all

All of the major car companies are signaling the future will be electric. When will the market react and copper price increase? I think it's going to be a sudden gap higher when deficits begin to emerge. Glta

DG... I echo your thoughts
NM said that sovereign risk is the only risk remaining. I believe that this is what is holding back all parties. From Institutional investors to the big miners. There is no other answer. We have an incredible asset and both BHP and Newcrest have pretty much bought an option on the property. Maybe Enami becomes a partner in the end. There are negotiations going on behind the scenes here that institutions are all privy to. When they get resolved we will go northerly IMO.
"Ecuador has been working to make itself more attractive to miners, having abolished a windfall tax in August, and is refining its legal framework around mining investment as it seeks partners for joint venture projects with state miner Enami, he told Reuters later."
"What we are looking at is opening joint venture opportunities for any large, well structured companies," he said, warning that miners must meet strict environmental criteria."
zeus... stock isn't moving in Toronto session..... .64-65... no movement....... good to watch both
thanks Jerry, Not2sure....
Jspaniel... I'd love to know more about why BHP would sign up for not being able to buy significantly more shares??
I real can't get my head around why they would agree to that???
Thanks
schmeil... don't mean to offend and happy to see your posts... I just know how API based trading works and it's all about painting pictures to make investors make emotional decisions... I'm sure in large very liquid public companies it may be a better indicator of direction but in small publicly traded companies it's all a game to me.... watching day to day is not something I personally would do but if you find it gives you valuable insight thats wonderful. Have a great day lad.
L2 is not real.... it's just programs trying to paint pictures.... most of the time its the exact opposite of what it shows. NWC topping up is quite significant. I'd expect a bit of a bump this week...... GLTA
I wonder if Ecuador brokered the BHP deal with SOLG?? NM's reference to Ecuador being happy with BHP on register really stuck out to me.
"Ecuador will shortly release a formal Government policy to make the mining industry a long-term key economic driver."
“Over the past two years, the mining industry has grown from 0.8% to 1.55% of GDP, and now the goal is to grow that to 4% GDP by 2021,” said the Vice Minister
Knowing that Newcrest and BHP are on the register why wouldn't a fund buy a 10-15 % chunk and use it as a bargaining chip at a later date? Maybe they couldn't get the size they want but I'm sure they could get a good amount at these levels (below what BHP paid).
The press coverage will hopefully be reflected in SP very soon. You can't start getting so much positive feedback without a significant SP increase...... it's coming!!!!
"high risk, high return" Beaven's comments
Will the PEA be the catalyst in de risking ENSA for BHP??? I think the reason no one has completely jumped in here is because of some uncertainty with gov't still. Even NM's comments yesterday were very tailored to keeping Gov't happy (eg BHP being on register). Political risks remain as the "high risk" portion of his comments.
SOLG just went .65-66 in Toronto.... no print though so the last trade is .63... CGP is has traded over 650 000 shares without moving.... looks as if someone is acquiring in an arranged marriage??? Time will tell.... glta
Someone is trying to keep CGP down as well.... every time a .32 bid comes in it gets smacked.... should be trading way higher.... obviously something happening behind the scenes ....
