Apologies if this has been published here before. A month old but some interesting observations about test methods and bias as well as a view of the usefuleness of the abc-19 from Abingdon.

Red, Your wishful thinking may hold true but the reputation of the inferior products in use today will not help when bringing a better mousetrap to market.
Oftinhipe? Might be considered an insult.... swabs at dawn? Name your second, sir.

"Aim: To compare the classifications made using military supervised self -administered swabs with LFT made on site, vs those obtained by the same asymptomatic person using a second self-administered swab and assayed by a second LFT and reverse transcribed quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) at a DHSC designated quality assurance (QA) laboratory and then investigate the associationbetween LFT prediction and cycle threshold (Ct) values from a PCR test."
Sage released research on Friday by the University of Liverpool which found that the Innova lateral flow test picked up 48.89 per cent of active infections. The study involved 3,199 patients.
There is no information about how the tests were administered, unfortunately.

Unusual in todays trades. Mostly AT and ALGO. I was not able to find any references to the RN contract.
Some commercial pricing info and details of competitor products. FYI

One of the endearing features of the Charles Stanley portfolio is a tendency to jumble some numbers, leaving one ecstatic or devastated for a moment. Today's gem:-

VanV - Saliva tests were being publically disparaged several weeks ago. If they had already made progress with this nasal test version at that time then they should have come out with a statement. Disappointing...
I saw some comments beneath the video which reflect concerns about the lack of timely information on the change of tack. Having just had a swabbing for a PCR test I think a reliable anterior nasal approach would be much more acceptable. Why on earth did AVCT not publicise this? It is a positive.
"CE marking is an administrative marking that indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA). " It may be well regarded in some countries outside the EEA but most have their own requirements which differ slightly in one way or another. Certainly the US does not recognise CE. One would need some FDA approval there. If electrical then FCC and UL requirements must be satisfied.
I saw this earlier today.

I am puzzled as to why it was not referenced in the RNS or elsewhere on the site since it is dated 23 Nov. Perhaps the readers here did not review the midnight content! Enjoy...
I use Charles Stanley - was the least expensive when I was looking a few years ago. It did not seem to have any problems over the last few days. Best features are live share prices and trades displays. You can watch AVCT decline in real time!
Interesting day. Whacked by AVCT but also G4M, OCDO and HOC. Mitigation from IAG, SSON and surprisingly MGGT. So an uncertain imminence of vaccine means we all stop being at home and buying on internet, then start flying again so lots of pilots need oxygen masks. HOC connection beyond me.
I have an orchestrated feeling about all this. Common sense could say nothing has changed today. Nothing much will change in the next few months unless people enjoy periods of quarantine at either end of their journeys and y’all return to supermarket shopping. I anticipate a rebalancing over the next few days and if AVCT customers win a tender next week then quids in again.
Yeah, a quick gargle and swallow might be good before filling the funnel. This test has to be simple to be usable by anyone anywhere. The PCR process for saliva capture described was a bit complicated.
However, the govt seems to be getting very involved in a low level of detail around the manufacture of the test(s). Let's hope they can keep it together.
Saliva into a funnel may be good for constraining spread. But if the saliva does not always have sufficiently low viscosity for the lateral flow then dilution in saline and depositing a couple of drops on the test device would need this saline filled tube. We need to find the instruction leaflet. Watch out for a printer tender.
I have not been here much so apologies if this has already been posted. An interesting tender to support a high volume test that needs a funnel!

Origin Packaging Ltd — Supply of Saline Filled Tubes and Funnels for Covid-19 Testing
In the justification
“A key element of ensuring an effective response to the pandemic is ensuring adequate testing. Subsequently securing sufficient Covid sampling consumables in order to process test results is crucial. A significant constraint on building capacity is timelines for filling and capping machinery. When investigating available delivery capacity, capacity availability was identified with the supplier that presented and an opportunity arose to secure additional volumes of sample collection consumables ahead of lead times being provided by alternative suppliers. There is an ongoing gap between the daily capacity requirement for these consumables, with this contract accounting for c15 % of the capacity gap if the capacity slot can be secured.”
