RE: Financial impact of hedging in place8 Apr 2025 15:28
Londoner - thank you for your excellent post @ 11.20 . My experience was with stock traded options thus the terminology is a bit different but it appears to me ( I hope ) the principles to be similar ? . But clearly your expertise far outweighs mine.
Dumbly - You are clearly interested enough to invest and and to get an understanding of the principles employed ---- I suggest you buy the book which is well written in a relatively easy to follow manner, that way It will explain things at your own pace and to which you can refer back to later, less than broker commission or stamp duty on a single trade.
As londoner said "We don't know the profile, " as to how ENQ structured the exercise. I think in 23 they gave the amount per barrel received for the swaps but not so this time. That premium as income was not exercised and became worthless to the holder.
This time, Unless the details are known , any intrinsic, time value, volatility, we are getting bogged down and totally confused.
The only sure thing is that the sold swaps have decreased and the purchased puts have increased, but by how much ???
