I claim no particular insight into his actions but have no reason to dispute the explanation he provided.

There is nothing dishonest about deciding to sell some stock and, then, deciding to sell some more stock.

I do not know what the objection is to being a "swing trader", trading a part of one's position is a perfectly normal approach to the market.
