George Frangeskides, Chairman at ALBA, explains why the Pilbara Lithium option ‘was too good to miss’. Watch the video here.
@jimb Sounds like Ganfeng are in the driving seat to me, as to be expected. Sonora Plan hopefully ratified next week - hopefully decent crystallisation of value to us which can be appreciated by the market - ideally (some) cash as there really is no ignoring that in the SP! lol
next week, or maybe even next day! lol.
37 minutes... :-) Roll on next I say!
I suggest Sonoran doubters listen VERY carefully at the end ;-)
Thinking about it a bit more, assuming he isn't involved in Sonora and has no insider knowledge on that, and this is subsequently confirmed, then we would be complaining about why he didn't buy on such good Amapa news! lol. Damned if he buys, damned if he doesn't. By some. ;-)
I personally think this purchase by @Kiran is making a point to the market that either he isn't involved in the current Sonora discussions (as @Bannor says, he wasn't involved with the BCN bid, so not precedent setting) which surely are taking place, or none of the KDNC BoD are involved. Alternatively there are no discussions taking place and the Sonora Plan/government is railroading Ganfeng - somehow I very much doubt this given what has been said to date by the president.
Absolutely @tomcat... Speaks volumes just @Kiran buying.
Heck, given how much research I have done on the subject and how much I own of the company even I feel like I perhaps shouldn't be mentioning it by proxy - and I don't have any insider information! lol
No one is mentioning Sonora at the moment as it is very politically sensitive. It's playing out though...
lol @one, piled in around 3p, 10x to 30p. Continued to add on the way down to 10p, and having been piling in around 10p, looking for another 10x'er here - just uncertain of the timescales... And of course, I was certainly "wrong" all the way down to 3p years ago because I didn't predict the lithium bare market - not many did, and the recent 30p to 10p drop - mostly wider market and continued fear of placing, which won't be necessary if Sonora comes good, well not at this price anyway. I've never been more confident we have a re-rate on the cards in short order, but each to their own. ;-)
@one. Absolutely maybe it's not about to happen - and I believe most of the market thinks this. But I'm confident this is due to ignorance through lack of research and understanding of what is actually happening on the ground. It's all there to see if you invest the effort... DYOR
@one We've been waiting for a favourable outcome on Sonora for nearly 10 years, and maybe it's about to happen. DYOR.
Absolutely @jimb. Sonora Lithium is key to the Sonora plan and if the quote below is no longer true, we deserve to be told without delay. I personally think we've struck a deal, and I've been piling in on the back of this belief for some time now - I don't care that the SP says otherwise, I'm backing my research - the market can stay ignorant for all I care until the deal is announced. lol. I could be wrong, but so what, Sonora appears to be valued at near zero in the SP, so little downside IMHO, especially with Amapa prospects just getting better (I strongly suggest comparing against peers - not hard to do, there are various company presentations out there which compare peers, and it's relatively easy to see where Amapa fits in - VERY favourably on practically all metrics!) :-)))

We are constantly examining possible legislative changes, and Gangfeng is ensuring that the mineral concessions remain legitimate. It is our current view that the Decree passed by the senate only impacts licenses, concessions, or contracts to be granted, NOT already those already granted, as is the case for the Sonora Lithium Project. Therefore, at this point, we do not believe there is a material impact on our joint venture areas.

Surely it must be becoming clearer to those that haven't really done their own research, why this asset was once valued at $3.2B - it's hugely strategic. I can wait for the re-rate. Patience eh? @Mer. ;-)
Absolutely @jimb! Amapa's NPV 10% is $949m - I just can't bring myself to post Macarthur's NPV 10%. But if anyone is in any doubt how good Amapa is in comparison you really should take a look. I'll be very surprised if we don't have off takes and the like lined up, pending other events and transactions that have to happen first. ;-)
It's pretty crazy @tomcat - I think there is going to be a bit of a wake up call for some when the cat is dragged kicking and screaming from the bag. I mean, surely Son ora news imminent... ;-)
Exactly @tomcat, and as noted the other day I'd expect that fob $35.53/dmt to be much lower initially - this being a life of mine average. Maybe as low as $24/t
Glad to see we are going down this route which is a bit of a game changer compared to when Anglo and co owned the project:

Transhipment Solution
A Capesize vessel is partially loaded at the berth in Santana port and topped off in the open ocean, 200 nautical miles from the berth.

Fantastic work so far - I'm expecting a great follow up over the next few days and weeks @Kiran. Get the word out there. :-)
Anyone keeping an eye on iron ore and shipping prices? - huge falls on shipping, whilst iron ore continues to rise. Shipping news MUST be on the near horizon unless we are sticking with plan B ;-)
