39.2 million underlying profit in the corresponding 9 month period last year when things were better. This year it's 11.3, where is the £33 million for the bond coming from with net deposits still lower than last September and net interest margin down 0.24% (thats a bad one). Where is the money for the fine and the interest payable on that when it lands.

Your point therefore although not relevant would only be true if all shareholders now were the same shareholders at the time that the mistake was made..

I didn't say they would levy a fine based on shareholder losses - you intimated it was a mistake/crime without any cost implications though - which is completely wrong.. !

The FCA are there to protect the fabric of the Financial world that we live in - not just depositors like you with your £100k in a deposit account - hope it's a joint account BTW otherwise that's just plain daft with a non govt owned bank..

£50-£100 million is my guess on the fine and it probably won't take 18 months.
