Sorry, pressure of the BB:
Agree with Bella, Starbright and others.
It depends on your appetite for risk. I was not able to continually drip feed to save for a good pension due to some pretty challenging times in my first business over a lengthy period of time. A few years back, I cashed in a few life insurance / work pension policies (worth peanuts then) and stuck this a few thousand pounds into a HL trading account.
I have a small work pension and the state pension (next year), but we have been prudent and have paid off all loans / mortgage etc, so I decided that my HL trading pot was my 'play' money. Initially, I was invested in a wide range of managed funds and a few stocks split in a SIPP and an ISA. Latterly, I have got rid of the dogs in the portfolio and put them into better performing shares, based on a review each year.
Fast forward a few years, with some successful investing and regular topping up, and the amount in my 'play-pot' is now very significant. Very biased toward AVACTA. If AVACTA delivers, as I expect it to do, I might need to buy a forest / land for tree planting, as something to pass to the children / grandchildren - this is my part-time gig at the minute - woodland consulting.
This would never have happened if I had been 'risk' adverse and unhappy to wait (delayed gratification). My 'risk-adverse' wife is impatient for a quick return and a high buyout share price. I think that is some time away yet (so, as I hold the keys to her trading accounts, she needs to wait with me, until a big Pharma offers a price for part or all of AVACTA that is agreeable to the AVACTA BoD, and is bought out, as I'm prepared to do - I hope I am able to hand her back a sizable increase in AVACT stock value).
I think the management team are excellent, experts in their fields and they are putting their products through all necessary scientific and regulatory rigour as quickly as they are able to do so. They have the subtle pressure of a fixed timeline when the IP runs out on their AVA6000 prodrug, whilst at the same time developing a really exciting pipeline of new pharma opportunities with some big partners.
There is a tremendous amount of 'noise' that is generated on this BB - I think it's best to DYOR and be guided as to whether you want to 'play' in this sandbox, with others who share your long term holding attitude and a company who are going places, IMO.
Good luck to all LTH.
